Dubcnn: What’s up guys. There’s three of you. Scoop DeVille, Ryu and Apathy.First off tell us about you guys coming together and how you decided to do this project. I know you guys have other stuff going on so this is a project you had to decide you were gonna do.

Apathy: First of all we’re like best friends, we’re like brothers. Stay at his crib 6 months out of the year, Scoop’s like our younger brother and it was just a natural thing that we work together anyway. We all like the same type of music.

Ryu: Pretty got sick of the situations we were in, doing the same type of music. Locked ourselves in the studio for a couple months and did the first thing that came to mind. Anything with no boundaries whatsoever and did the most off the wall shit we could possibly think of. The result is Uzi Does It.

Dubcnn: So tell us about the sound. A lot of people describe it as underground hip-hop. Where’d you guys come from with the sound.

Apathy: We’ve all done underground hardcore hip-hop for so long that it just got to be exhausting and we wanted to do something completely new and have fun with the music again. We weren’t having fun with the music, we were just doing the same shit over and over again. And our musical tastes are so vast and we just wanted to have fun with music and o something crazy.

Ryu: We just wanted to have fun with this record. We’ve been trapped in situations so long where we couldn’t have fun and we felt like we were handcuffed. This one was no holds barred, anything we felt like no subject matter was off limits so we just did what we wanted.

Dubcnn: You guys talked about the influence for the project being Eazy E and Boogie Down Productions. Tell us about that.

Apathy: Yeah Eazy E, BBD, BPD. That’s part of what it is. We grew up listening to gangsta rap, we grew up listening to Boogie Down Productions. And BBD from the New Jack swing and all that, our influences are everything, form the Cure and Morrissey to the BDP, NWA, Jodeci, you got old school dance hall and dub influence in it, there's a lot of different influences all over the record.

Ryu: No limits whatsoever, anything we think is hot, it could be a country record, we’re doing it.

Scoop DeVille: It’s a good thing, we’re happy to be here, it’s the release party, we here live Dubcnn. Zune Mansion, this is what we do.

Ryu: Lot of people in the house, Mike Shinoda, Bishop Lamont.

Apathy: Shout out to Joe Hahn, Taje.

Dubcnn: What’s up with the title, Uzi Does It?

Ryu: It’s never easy, the uzi always does it.

Dubcnn: You’re releasing it on a key chain. How’d you guys come up with that?

Apathy: it’s a USB thing.

Ryu: People are under the impression that it’s small, it’s not that small. It just has a keychain on it if you want to hang it on a backpack or whatever, but it’s a good sized uzi and it has a clip.

Apathy: It’s a 2 gig flash drive, it’s crazy, it’s in the shape of an uzi.

Ryu: Nobody buys CD no more, but everybody buys uzis.

Dubcnn: That’s really creative, who came up with the idea to make that happen?

Ryu: It was kinda throwing shit up against the wall and seeing what stuck. And our manager Ian, we come up with ideas and our manager Ian puts it into motion, makes it happen.

Dubcnn: This is a very independent release, you self funded it and all that stuff. Did you shop it to labels or did you straight up go the independent route?

Apathy: Nah, we were being courted, people were knocking at our doing, asking what we were doing, and we’re not interested. We’ve done that route before, we’re disenchanted with that bullshit. It’s basically nothing anybody’s telling us that’s interesting us. And the next best thing is us doing it ourselves, making the money ourselves, no middleman, no bullshit.

Ryu: Basically, I’ve been in the business a long time, we know a lot of people. When we put this record together, my man Mike Shinoda called me and said, “Don’t go to a major record label with this shit no matter what.” So he linked us up with Topspin media. We set up a company, Tokyo Sex Whale which is our record label. We set it up like any corporation, we got investors and everything. We pulled every favor in the book throughout our careers, to get this record poppin’, and at least get the exposure for it. ‘Cause we knew we had the music to back it up, so we figured if people could actually hear it they’d be behind us, so that’s what's happenin’ right now.

Scoop DeVille: I’m just happy to be here right now.

Dubcnn: So is this the first time you guys decided to try and do something like that as far as being independent?

Apathy: We’ve been doing this kind of thing on a smaller level since the 90s. That’s part of our era where we had to figure out how to put out records from the first level. We always had to figure out how to put things out independently, how to hire a publicist, how to do this and that, now we just did it on a much larger level.

Ryu: We got Chevy Jones and Bishop Lamont, you guys are with Dubcnn right now. Chevy sings on our record, Bishop Lamont’s on our record.

Chevy: What up Dubcnn, this is Chevy Jones, it’s all about Get Busy Committee tonight.

Bishop Lamont: I’m just here for these rock stars tonight.

Ryu: This is a family right here.

Apathy: Chevy’s on Uzi Does It, the title track right here, Bishop’s on the next album.

Bishop Lamont: It was so fresh and so amazing, I couldn’t even be on it. The schedules were so conflicting, they were in there with everybody, Robert Zemeckis, Spielberg, Scorcese.

Apathy: The truth was we couldn’t afford the private jet for Bishop, we were like, “Yo we can’t work with that”. And he was like, “Holla at me when you can.”

Scoop Deville: we got awesome records with Bishop Lamont coming soon, so check it out.

Bishop Lamont: Shameless promotion, Special Forces Team America, fuck ya up. You’ll see the Get Busy Committee pop up on there too.

Apathy: Team America, fuck yeah. Yo one of the hardest concept joints ever, so you gotta check out for that Team America.

Bishop Lamont: These guys are amazing and beautiful. They deserve the Nobel Peace Prize, they’re geniuses. That’s all I have to say about that. Shouts out to True Love Far Siders.

Ryu: Get that Dirty Girl Part II ringtone, me Bishop Lamont and Rob Dyrdek.

Dubcnn: Tell us about the video for My Little Razorblade, you guys had a video for that. Tell us about that.

Ryu: Basically what is was, our friend, Tre, he’s a really good director, really creative, he put it out there on his own, we didn’t tell him to do it. We saw it and loved it and it was really dope.

Apathy: It was really dope and really crazy.

Dubcnn: Are you guys planning on doing any other videos or things of that nature?

Ryu: Actually the single I don’t Care about you no More is playing on KROQ and 91X on San Diego so it’s actually forcing is to do a video faster than expected. We’re gonna get this video done in the next two weeks, and run it out so it’s gonna be a really good video too.

Apathy: The dope thing about this album is that we had no expectations, we did it for fun. We were doing something crazy and it took off, it took off way beyond what we expected, the radio stuff and all that. All the opportunities and all that really hit us over the head.

Scoop DeVille: I wanna say something too. Shout out to Snoop Dogg, I got a single coming out on iTunes November 17th, “I Wanna Rock”. Video coming soon, everything. I love you guys, these motherfuckers right here.

Apathy: This dude is producing on anything relevant. Super producer Scoop Deville. A lot of people need to move aside make room for this dude.

Scoop Deville: I’m lettin’ these guys talk because they sound so good, it’s magic.

Ryu: Wait till you hear this Snoop single, this shit is bananas. Shout out to Cory Gunz, doing shit with Cory Gunz.

Scoop DeVille: Yes sir, East Coast we comin’, shout out to Cory Gunz, we rootin’ for you, you already know.

Dubcnn: Thanks a lot for your time guys, and good luck with the album. Let everyone know where they can find you and check you out online.

Apathy: GetBusyCommittee.com. iTunes, whatever.

Ryu: Go to Getbusycommittee.com, that’s the jump off for everything else you need. Shout out to Dubcnn.com good lookin’.

Apathy: Shout out to Dubcnn.com big up Dubcnn.com. Apathy, Ryu Scoop Deville, GBC, Demi Gods.
