dubcnn.com: Glasses Malone... If you
haven't heard this name yet, write it down people, cause it's gonna keep
popping up in future! Introduce yourself to everybody and let us know what
you're about.
Man, G-Malone! Watts! Glasses Malone! BlackWallStreet! The only Crip nigga on
BlackWallStreet. And that's pretty much it!
dubcnn.com: Why the name Glasses Malone?
Well, the thang was.. I've had the same name for a long time, and I'm blind as
a muthafucka. My homie named me Glasses back in the day when I was a young
nigga. Malone was a name that my big homie gave me, so I just kept the names
and kept it moving!
dubcnn.com: What type of artists is Glasses? What do you tell the world about?
Man, the truth, period! I'm into making records, not just showin' the world I
can rap. I'm all about real nice great records, period. That's me in a few
words: great record.
dubcnn.com: Which projects have you been featured on up until now?
Shit man, let's see. Really I ain't did that much across the board for people
to know me, but probably the biggest project I did was the Devil's Advocate
with The Game, then me and my camp did the "Crack Mixtape". And now I just
dropped the White Lightnin' (Sticks) Mixtape. White Lightin' is the last thing
I did! That just came out last Tuesday.
dubcnn.com: So what's up with your label situation... Are you signed to
BlackWallStreet as an artist?
Yep, BlackWallStreet is my team man. It's my crew. And they workin' everything
out right now, so we can lock that shit down and make it totally sick. They
handlin' they distribution situation right now, too many distribution
companies is coming at them. So we gone see how everything is gone work out!
But I'm Black Wall period man.
dubcnn.com: How did you hook up with Game in the first place?
Let's see. My nigga Tone (Rest In Peace), that's my nigga from Village Town,
he's a Piru. He was one of the first people to appreciate my talent and what I
was doin'. So first thang he took me to this lil spot with the Westside Piru's
and that was the first time I met 4Cent (Rest In Peace) Billboard. And I go
back there, and we spittin' bars, I'm sayin what I gotta say, I'm cuzzin' in
my raps, they bloodin' in they raps, and it's like 20 Piru's, and me and 4
[Billboard] started a relationship from that. So Tone he loved how that shit
went, and 4 was cool with me, so I ended up going to a lil park where they was
at. These niggaz was havin' how they call it a company picnic. But they was
havin' it like at the Piru park, the Gonzales Park in Compton. Every nigga
know that's Rosecrans, it's all Piru.
So I go to this park, my nigga come pick me up, and we ride through there. To
remind ya'll, I'm C'd up, I'm wearin' so much blue, and I'm goin' over here
with about 1,200 bloods! 1,300 Pirus and I was there just chillin', lovin' it!
And they was in front of the camera shooting The Game's DVD! They in front of
the cameras and shit, with guns and shit, and I'm like "oh my god! I know
these niggaz ain't out here like that!" *laughs* And there was a couple niggaz
there from my neighbourhood so they showed me love, and then Tone introduced
me to Game and that's how I met Game right then and there!
dubcnn.com: Are you part of a crew/group in music?
Musically man, I rock with my niggaz Bishop Lamont, Mykestro, that's
Battlecats little brother. Mykestro and Bishop Lamont, that's who I fuck with
in this rap shit. Mykestro my left hand Bishop my right hand. That's the kinda
niggaz I got ties with. And me and my homeboy B-Brown, he locked up right now,
he finna parole, and Needle is my lil producer, that's my head producer that
I've been fuckin' wit.
And not to mention the rest of the BlackWall fam, Black Friday, Life, and all
them niggaz. Also 'Cat is my nigga, he like my mentor did alot for me. So in a
nutshell thats pretty much where it stops.
dubcnn.com: Did you ever fuck with Kay9ine? Billboards brother in law..
Yeah! That's my nigga! Kay9ine! I fucked with him a while back! We never got a
chance to do no record, but just talkin' bout doin' something. That's my nigga
though! Past music. On some street shit. That's my nigga right there.
dubcnn.com: You're also affiliated with Spider Loc?
Spider Loc is my dog! He's probably one of those who really appreciated my
talent. I met him through BlackWallStreet. He was the only other Crip nigga
through there, and we did a record together. The nigga heard that one verse
and was like "Yo you dope!" and took me to meet this Watts legend nigga that I
had known about but never met, and we interacted instantly with dude. So me
and Spider, our ties is really thick. I really got love for that dude beyond
that. I was so proud of him when he got with G-Unit. That nigga deserves it
man. The dude deserves it, he's been through alot, a real street nigga. He a
real nigga.
dubcnn.com: The West Coast is on a come back right now.. The Game is on top,
the Dogg Pound is reuniting... What do you feel you can bring to the game?
Man, excellent records, period. Great records. That's all I'm about. I'm not
about changing nothing, I'm not about making nothing special, I'ma make great
records. You gone hear it and it's just great ass records. My whole thang in
this game, my whole pursuit, is to have 2 classic records. One of the first
rappers to officially have 2 classic records.
You got Dre who did, Pac and Cube. But I want 2 undeniable classic records. No
question. You got Jay-Z he got Reasonable Doubt that's considered a classic,
but Blueprint is doubted. Even Jay said Blueprint is not a classic. I was on
the line with my nigga and he told them that. And then you got Nas who dropped
Illmatic, but everybody question whether Stillmatic was a muthafuckin'
guaranteed classic. So my thing is, I wanna drop 2 classic albums period. I'm
just about great music man, great music.
dubcnn.com: You just released your mixtape... Tell us about it!
White Lightnin' Sticks man! It's named after Sherm, I was like 17-18, so it's
like that's how I got the title. And it's just a real well rounded records.
It's not no fuckin' mixtape, it's really a street album where I'm just
showcasing how great I can compose records you feel me? It's all real. It's
how I compose a record from the intro to the beat to the hook. And that's what
I did. I actually got it to BlackWall, Big Fase Hunned kinda was like it's too
dope to let it go! But like I told him, I feel so great about making music and
I feel good about it. It's naturally in me to make music, I love that shit. So
to make it ain't nothing.
But get back to the point, Battlecat production, Nephew production, Da
Boomdocks.. Features from The Game, Spider Loc, Bishop Lamont, Mykestro, Kam
from Watts, the first Kam, the original Kam... It's on, it's on! That
muthafucka is the shit, I really put work into it and made it something
special, I didn't fuck around!
dubcnn.com: Where can people purchase it?
You can go to like any mixtape website right now. We did real good the first
week. Alotta shit in wholesale, alotta shit on the streets. So you can go to
theblackwallstreet.com, that's the first stop: www.theblackwallstreet.com. Or
they can go to www.glassesmalone.com and get that shit, so that's the business
Nima!
dubcnn.com: Are you working on a solo album too?
Oh man, I stay working on shit. I got another tape coming out. To be honest
I'm dropping 3 street albums this year man. White Lightnin' the Sticks disc,
I'm comin' back with the Sermon in June with big features and then I'm doin'
the White Lightnin' Pours which is a throwback mixtape. I can't really spill
too much information about it, cause I know niggaz gone wanna steal what I'm
doin! So that muthafuckas gonna be hot too. I went throwback on some shit,
it's nothin!
dubcnn.com: When you do release your solo, you think it's gonna come on Black
Wall Street?
Yeah, 9 chances outta 10 it is. Really, Fase Hunned, G-Ride, Fat Rat, one
shoutout to all them niggaz man, them niggaz showed me love from the start,
they been behind me. They Pirus and still came forward and fucked wit they boy
and got me up and really showed me love. I done got offers from majors,
multiple majors, and still this is gonna be some Black Wall Street shit at the
end of the day. It's too much love from them dudes right there to even go, and
I'm too lil of a nigga ya mean? But my record is gonna be off the hook, I
already got production fom different people, it's gonna be a fantastic album.
I'ma make sure I make that muthafucka a classic, period. That's all I care
about. I don't know about the 9-10 millions, but I want a classic record.
dubcnn.com: Snoop Dogg announced that he's calling a Western Conference
soon... Do you wanna be involved in that?
I mean, yeah, definitely. I wanna see what dudes talking about. I just wonder,
like I say, I don't know.. Everybody was trying to get it popping, and I'm
with that, I'm all for it. But I would like to see what's gonna happen because
the same shit that's going on is the same shit that got us stomped. It was no
more artists comin' out. The niggaz who was responsible for bringing us out
never brought us out. The niggaz who was up in that type of pour, Dogg and Daz
and all them, they never gave us a path. I never heard it. But yeah, I'm
appreciating what dude is doing right now, dude is a legend, and it makes
sense for him to pull it off, it makes sense for him to do it. It's only
right.
dubcnn.com: If it was up to you, which artists would you like to collaborate
with?
Oh man a whole lot. Every one. It's not about who I'd like, it's about who I
am going to work with. Cause once I decide, they can't turn me down. Man! I
really, whoever I decide to... I wanna do a record with everybody. I love
doing records. Dre already told me he's gone work on my record if I decide to
do it that way. But I really can't wait to work with Quik, I wanna work with
Dogg, I'ma do a mixtape joint with Dogg and see how it sounds. Man everybody!
I don't dislike nobody cause I'm too good of a nigga to even beef wit.
dubcnn.com: Is there anything else you'd like to let everybody out there know?
Like I say man, G-Malone! BlackWallStreet! Blue Division! Pick up that White
Lightnin' Sticks disc. On the flipside, the Sermon comin' out in June, it's
gonna be a monster. Production from the same caliber of people, just hot shit.
And just fuck wit ya boy if you wanna hear some bomb ass records! If you wanna
listen to some shit that'll put you through moods and changes, fuck wit
Glasses! I'ma take you on a mission on every CD, period.
Oh and shoutout to the Hoggs man! The Hoggs! The Young Hoggs is niggaz I work
with. we ain't had no chance to do no records yet but them niggaz are really
talented at making records. Like alotta niggaz is gangbanging hood ass niggaz,
them niggaz make RECORDS. I don't know if ya'll heard "Crazy Me", them niggaz
is the shit. They definitely up on my mixtape. We gonna make some big records
with them in the future, period.
dubcnn.com: I know Gangsta Dresta fuckin' wit the Young Hoggs!
Dresta is my nigga man! That's my nigga! I've known him for a while, that
nigga is a lovely ass nigga man! He in same thang we all is, trying to do this
New West thang and get it popping. It ain't even no question, Game got that
shit poppin', period. Game got that shit poppin, he brought it back to the
West, now it's up to niggaz in the West to make bomb ass records and keep it
popping. So that's the whole thang. Like I said me, Bishop, Myke, we workin'
on our own records, we doin' our thang. We ain't even trippin' off no major
labels to do everything for us, we building our own fanbase man.
dubcnn.com: Alright man, that's about it for the questions, thanks for taking
the time!
It's nothing man. This is Glasses Malone, Dubcnn.com man! Fuck wit ya boy! Me
and Nima here! Doin' the thizzle man, holla!
