Dubcnn: Thanks for taking the time to sit with us and catch up on what’s been happening with you, I see you’ve been hitting the road in support of the new album, how has that been going?

Fantastic, the people have been checking out the album and coming out to support its been real cool.

Dubcnn: First off, Let me congratulate you on another solid LP “Gimme All Mine” it’s always good to get a Kokane LP, what tracks have you the fans been giving you the most feedback about? My favorite is “Getting Ova”

The fans have been responding to the whole album, butt I hear feedback on tracks like “Can A Thug Get To Heaven” but truth be told, I made the album for everybody…If you want to hear something with a socially conscious message you can listen to tracks “Killing Fields” or “Twilight Zone”, if you want to hear something with the “Down South” vibe you can slap tracks like “Rolling”, if you’re in the mood for that “West coast” G-Funk you can slap on tracks like “Getting Ova”

Were working real hard to push this album, as well as this westcoast movement, that’s why were out here on the road promoting this “Gimme All Mine” album Trump Tight Entertainment got us promoting from August all the way to December.

Dubcnn: Rumor has it, there is a possibility you’ll be doing an album that showcases more of your vocal range and less rapping, is there any truth to that?

Well, I’ve always been one to push the envelope man…I’ve always done my rapping along with the vocals…not taking anything from the Drakes or the Missy types, but let the record reflect I was really the first artist out here really doing bringing that into the game.

To answer your question though, I do have a project I’m working on that’s is going to be 100 percent of that 70 & 80’s funk vibe…I’m talking P-Funk, Rick James…all of that real funk because truth be told there is a market of people who actually want to hear that brand of music…and I’m just the cat to bring it to them.

The album will be called “Jerry B. Long: Middle of the Road” and its gonna feature tracks from all over, producers like Battlecat, Tha Chill and a whole cast of producers in the fold. So keep your ears peeled for that one.

Dubcnn: I’ve noticed that this album has a nice share of videos, so far we’ve seen “Killing Fields”, “Rollin” and now Jelly Jar”…can we expect anymore?

Oh Yeah…we planned to do a video for the track “Lay You Down” featuring Above the Law, we plan to shoot it next month…the treatment is crazy, it’s gonna be something else…you guys keep your eyes peeled for that.

Dubcnn: You probably get this question a lot, as I’m sure you’ve heard the comparisons about both you and Nate Dogg being the “hook masters” of the game, how do you respond to that and has their ever been any competition there?

Let me first give it up to Nate Dogg, because I will never take anything from that man, Nate Dogg did it big, and I hope that one day, he comes back and is able to do it again…much respect to Nate Dogg. I’ve heard the comparisons of the years and I really don’t feed into that because Nate Dogg is Nate Dogg and Kokane is Kokane, and we both do what we done and made are marks in the game. I will say that Nate Dogg has been featured on more singles than I’ve been able to, but I believed I’ve been featured on more albums overall, but there is no competition, never was…were all unified.

Dubcnn: Here’s a question for ya…I was a big fan of your album “Pain Killaz” your style and Josef Leimberg’s production was a great combination, is there any chance of you cats hooking up again for another LP?

Most Definitely, I’ll be working with him on the “Jerry B. Long” album I was telling you about, he’s going to be bringing those real horns and real funk to the table

Dubcnn: Being that you are very “West Coast” meaning that you are one of the few artists that support our style and sound, are there any upcoming acts out there that have caught your ear?

Oh, I always monitor everything that’s out there, but its weird, cause in CA you’ll see we got the “low riders” and “different sets”, etc. that identify our culture than you turn on the radio and you hear nothing that reflects our style and sound. Which is why I’m pushing this “West Coast” movement so heavy, because how are we going to be able to get our sound back to where it needs to be, if we don’t support each other’s product.

For example, when Dr. Dre’s “Detox” album drops the game will gravitate to whatever it is he’s doing, right??…because of his stature in the game. Well, if we can create a heavy enough demand for our sound…the media, radio, etc. will have to gravitate towards, because the demand is heavy and they’ll need to supply it, right? Which is why fans need to come out and support our artists when they come to your city, go see the Snoop’s, the Cube’s, the Nipsey Hussle…when we hit your towns and show that unity and support.

Dubcnn: I’ve always wanted to ask you, how is your reception overseas…are they feeling Kokane over there, and have you ever been over there?

I get lots of love from Japan, Australia, Germany and London…I have real fans out there who actually are fans of some of the songs that I forgot about. It’s really a blessing to see that people really support not only my music, but the whole movement of hip hop. I’m actually getting my passport stuff together now so I can head overseas and make it happen, man.

Dubcnn: Before we get outta here, let our readers know, what’s coming up and how they can get a hold of you out there?

Well first I want to send big shout-outs to G’ Da Most (of Royal Krown), Ray from Hennessy Black, Jonathan Hay, Trump Tight Entertainment, and all the producers, Tha Chill (my comrade) Above The Law,
