dubcnn.com: What's going on Michelob?
Before we get into your music, tell our visitors abit about yourself. Where
are you from, and what do you
represent?
I'm born in L.A., raised in the Bay, and I'm full of game! So I'm a Game
Banger! You know, I wasn't really trippin' off of the whole rap shit, I was
just workin' like everybody else trying to make a livin'. But then I went on
the road with my nigga Spice [Spice 1], we went to New York, and I was out
there with him while he was recording his last album on Jive Records. And then
I started getting interested in the game, I mean I always rapped but I was
never really gone trip off that shit cause I know that what you know is who
you know. But then, we left New York and went to Detroit, we was fuckin' with
my niggaz from Crime Side, and Spice was out there to do a feature, and while
we was in the studio kickin' it, they heard me freestyling. They went and told
Spices manager that they wanted me on the song too! So I hopped on that song,
and ever since then, I've just benn on one!
dubcnn.com: You're part of the Game Bangers, along with Rappin 4Tay, Spice 1
and 40 Glocc. How did you hook up with them?
Well I already was folks with Spice, and we had came out here to L.A., we was
livin' in L.A. and shit, while he was recording, and that's when I met 4-Tay
and 40 Glocc. I met 40 Glocc through Bad Azz, and 4-Tay through Spice 1, and
we was all in the studio one day together, and Spice really came up with the
name Game Bangaz, and we layed a song with all of us on there, and ever since
then, it's been on! But at the same time, I started doin' my solo shit too,
cause everybody else was already doin' their solo shit, so we didn't really
have time to focus only on the group stuff right then and there, so I was doin'
my solo shit too. So for a while we stopped doin' the group shit, but now it's
like almost done and it's official now!
dubcnn.com: How big are the chances of us getting a complete album from the
game Bangers in future?
Oh it's as big as it can get! It's gone come out fo' sho! As long as we keep
breathing everyday, it's gone happen!
dubcnn.com: How much material has been recorded up until now?
We got like 8 songs done right now for the album, we prolly gone do like 5 or
6 more and we'll be done!
dubcnn.com: Sounds good! Who handled the production on that album?
We got like 3 or 4 different producers, my nigga Flexx did a couple tracks, my
nigga Peb, my nigga Pozition did a couple of tracks, and DJ Spin "Battle
Hungry Music", and some more, so you know we got a few different cats working
on it. We trying to have different sounds and different flavors to cover all
aspects for the listeners.
dubcnn.com: You released your solo album "Don't Let The Smoove Taste Fool Ya!"
this year. What can you be heard on from before that album?
Uhm, I was on the Last Dance [Spice 1], that independent album Spice put out,
I was on 4-Tay's Gangsta Gumbo, and I was on that compilation Spice put out,
Thug Disease. I'm the very first person to rap on that album, first song.
dubcnn.com: Ok so tell us abit about your solo. You had alot of big name
features on it, mostly from your Game Bangers homies, but also Ras Kass and
Eastwood. How did you hook up with them?
Oh shit, me and Ras Kass been folks for a while, I met him out here in L.A.
too once I was out here and I had met Eastwood out here too, and me and 4-Tay
had took Eastwood with us to Vegas, he always been the homeboy! So it was like
nothin' to hook up with them, we just clicked, and when it was time for me to
do my solo shit, and I asked them for a feature, they was with it! Ohh ohh
shit I forgot, I'm on RAS KASS - RE-UP compilation too! I'm on that one too,
number 5!!
dubcnn.com: Ok, so we will probably see you working with those two again?
Hell yeah, I mean Eastwood is gonna be on my Mix CD too and shit, we work
together that's my nigga and shit! I did some shit with Roscoe too, Kurupt's
lil bro. He's on my song on Spice's Thug Disease Compilation.
dubcnn.com: Who handled the production on your album?
Shit, I got like 5 or 6 different producers, some of the ones who did the Game
Bangaz shit, and one other, Bobby Jones is on there too, he did Mary J Blige
and shit.
dubcnn.com: And you shot a video for the first single too. Which song was it?
Yeah! I just shot the video for my first single called "Hello World!", my
debut to the world, like saying Hello, here I am, I ain't goin' no where, so
get used to it! That shit came out real real hot!
dubcnn.com: Tell us some more about the video, what is it like?
Oh shit it's everything you wanna see in a video, I got the lowriders bouncin
on three wheels, I got the jetskis, the limousines, the hummers, all the
females, it's just full of everything, it's my world, what goes on in my
world!
dubcnn.com: Do you think your video will get any airplay, cause it's hard
nowadays!
Oh yeah I think it'll get airplay, unless they just hatin' on me. But I know
I'ma push it regardless, to make sure it gets play!
dubcnn.com: How has your record been doin' up to now?
Right now, I still do the E-40 Master P thang, and sell out the trunk and go
out there and dump the Don't Let the Smoove Taste Fool Ya right now, and
everybody is feelin it! I haven't had, not one person, say it ain't cool!
Cause all of my songs, every last track is bumpin! It ain't know "kinda cool",
every one of them is knockin'! And nowadays, when you go buy some shit, you'll
be lucky if you get 2-3 songs that's bumpin on there, you can go through all
of my shit, and not skip one song! And that's just real talk!
dubcnn.com: We all know the music business is shady, and frustrating. Tell us
your view, and how you evaluate your chances of making it in the game.
Shit I know I got a clear head! I don't smoke weed no more, so I got a very
clear head. I don't knock nobody that smoke weed, but I just feel like now I'm
really makin' shit happen! And as far as the industry, I know the industry is
shady as fuck, and that's what you got entertainment lawyers for, so they can
break down the contract to you so you can really understand what you're
signing. And I'm not no dummy, not by far, by no means! I know what I want and
I know what I'm lookin' for, so if I can get that, it'll be all good. And like
I said before, and I'ma say it again, when it's my time to shine, I'ma blind
everybody! You muthafuckas out there that ain't heard about Michelob, you gone
see, my name is getting out there a little bit, it's circulating abit, but
they really really don't know! But it's gone change, trust me!
dubcnn.com: Is there anybody you'd particularily like to hook up with in
future to collaborate, production or rap wise?
Shit I wanna work with my nigga Rick Rock, he got heat! I wanna do some shit
with DJ Quik, he got heat, I wanna do some shit with Swizz Beatz, he got heat
too. And as far as artists, I'm not really trippin' off doin' hella features
with muthafuckas, unless they really diggin' me as a artist. I ain't jockin'
none of these niggaz to keep it real with you. I got love for all of them, but
I ain't on 'em like that. But there's a couple cats out there that would get
down with. Of course all my Game Banga niggaz cause we always gone get out
with each other! I'd like to do some shit with Ice Cube, I always been a fan
of Cube, I'll do some shit with Nas, Nas is tight to me too, and Ludacris,
I'll get down with Luda cause I feel like me and him kinda on the same page
and shit to a certain extent. And uhh.. That might be it to be honest with
you! Besides people I've already worked with.. I mean I'll get down with any
of my niggaz on the West Coast, it just gotta be love, I ain't fuckin' wit no
fake bullshit, cause niggaz ain't lookin' out for each other like they
supposed to! This shit is like the game is segregated. East Coast niggaz be
lookin' out for each other and shit, but our West Coast niggaz it's like every
man for himself! So if it's like that, I ain't trippin off doin' no songs with
them, you know what I'm sayin'? But if a nigga wanna do a song with me, if he
diggin' me as a artist, he's really feelin' my shit, then hell yeah I'll fuck
with him! That's basically all it is, I ain't got time to be like "Oh I got 5
thousand for a verse" nah fuck all that shit! If I feel your shit and you feel
my shit, nigga let's do a song together. We can get them labels to pay each of
us, instead of us payin each other! You feel me? I feel like I don't NEED none
of these niggaz on my shit. Oh hold on I got one more name I gotta throw in
there, I would love to do a song with my nigga DMX. Please believe that,
that's a real ass nigga. Period. I don't care, wether they think I need the
features or not, I don't care. I really don't, I'm not trippin' off that shit.
Cause really, to be honest with you, when it's time for me to blow, then
everybody gone wanna come and do a song with me. It shouldn't be like that,
they should fuck with you now, while they know you hungry and you hella tight,
and before that shit happens! Because then when it happens, I'm not really
gonna fuck with you, it's like a female! She won't wanna fuck with ou if you
takin' the bus and you broke, but as soon as you sign a deal and you in that
Benz, now she wanna call you and kick it with you. That's some fake ass shit!
And that's kinda how the rap game is too! You know what I'm sayin? So I'm
kinda cool on that fake shit.
dubcnn.com: Is there anything else you would like to let the fans know?
Yeah, just that the Mix CD is HOT, it's got alotta bangers on there, we ain't
got hella people on there, it's really just the Game Bangaz, I got Jayo Felony
on there, there's one with my nigga Flexx on there, but yeah the shit is hot,
we took all these niggaz beats and killed it more than they did! I can't wait
for ya'll to hear that shit, I'ma shoot DubCnn the tracks so you can put them
up there for free download, cause I want everybody to hear this shit, to let
muthafuckaz know that the public be brainwashed when they hear shit, cause
they go off whatever the radio play. So that way, that's why we doin' the mix
cds, we not just to be doin it, we doin' it cause you're brainwashed, you
don't listen to shit unless you hear those beats that you recognize, and that
way you pay more attention to our lyrics. And that's why we doin' this shit,
you feel? And then as far as this Black College tour, we doin' this tour me
Spice, Krayzie Bone goin' on tour April 14th, hit up the south, perform in
most black colleges, we bout to go out there and represent the West Coast to
the fullest, and create that buzz, so they know how we gone bring the west
back!!!
And if you ain't heard it, you better find somebody that got it, or go to
CDBaby.com and cop my album "Don't Let The Smoove Taste Fool Ya", it's one of
the hottest CDs that ain't really hit mainstream yet! It's one of the hottest
CDs out, and I'm not just sayin' that because it's my shit, I'm sayin it
because of all the feedback I done got. I haven't had no negative feedback.
Also, any nigga that reads this, and is hatin' on me, just go on and hate! I'm
not trippin', you can hate all you want! But just don't ever try to come at
me, or try to battle rap me or none of that, because that's when it's really
all bad for you. Don't none of these niggaz wanna battle rap me. I'ma tell you
that now! I'm cool with everybody, I ain't trying to start nothing, but if a
nigga come at me like that, then I'm goin' full force on they ass!
dubcnn.com: Thanks for taking the time to talk to us it's appreciated.
Oh fo sho my nig, it's nothin for DubCnn, I got love for ya'll! I appreciate
what ya'll doin', regardless! I'ma still have love for ya'll and I'ma always
support ya'll!
