Dubcnn: For those who might not be familiar, what is the difference between Playaz Circle and The Duffle Bag Boyz?

Playaz Circle is only two people: Dolla and myself, Tity Boi. The Duffle Bag Boyz is our crew full of people that rap and people who don’t rap, that hail from the Southside of College Park, Georgia by the airport.

Dubcnn: What’s going on right now?

It’s all about Flight 360 [The Takeoff]. The circle is the analogy for 360, and with the success from “Duffle Bag Boy”, we traveled a lot; met a lot of new people and we saw a lot of different cultures. With this new album, we touch on a lot of new issues with this new project – we have Cee-Lo Green featured on a song, and you already know that the Boss Man Luda is on the album. We got Jagged Edge and Bobby V for the female aspect. And of course, we got another banger with Lil Wayne who is singing on a hook. This album really shows what our chemistry is like.

Dubcnn: TA lot of people are checking for it.

We are doing a lot of spot dates now and getting out there and creating the awareness within the rap community, because I think the rap peers know who we are… We are touching base with the fans, letting them know where the Duffle Bag Boyz are and keeping up the visibility. And even though Lil Wayne sung the hook (on “Duffle Bag Boy”) – the song, swag and style came from us. With Flight 360, we are letting the people know that we do this thing for real. Since the “Duffle Bag Boy” was so successful – we were able to buy property, cars, jewelry – but we also invested into a studio. We did our whole album in our own studio, which in on the Southside of College Park. In our studio, it feels different to actually be in our own comfort zone and be around our friends from high school and being around our friends from the neighborhood.

Dubcnn: I’m sure all that helped with the music making process, too.

For sure… and definitely, being stationary in one spot, being there everyday and giving the djs the opportunity to come though once a week and pick out freestyles. We also had all the producers; the never heard of producers, the upcoming, the undiscovered, the unknowns… we had the new and hungry producers come through and we gave them the opportunity to play beats and an opportunity for them to get on. We always try to help people that want to help themselves.

Dubcnn: That’s great to give people that opportunity.

Yea, the guy that did the track for “Duffle Bag Boy” came from a small town in Alabama. I’ve been recognizing that the game has changed as far as who produced that track or who is on there. It’s still about who’s on it as far as your Wayne’s or T-Pain… But, early in the game when we started, it was all about if Dre produced it, or Timbo produced it – that could get you a few units… It’s changing now and we are out here reaching out and giving back.

Dubcnn: Tell us about the two new songs with both Lil Wayne and Ludacris.

The song we did with [Lil] Wayne is called; “Big Dawg” and we did that recording in Atlanta. One night, he just came up and said I gotta a hook for you. We went to the car and we went through a whole lot of beats, like 4 or 5 beat CDs and we came up with something nice… And I told him you just sing on this one, no rapping. I told him, when you are part of the Duffle Bag Boyz, you do R&B. We just laughed, kicked it and banged out another one.

As far as Ludacris, he likes to come to our studio to add that little hood element, because he’s out of town and on the road for so long, so he comes back and gets grounded. He came in and blessed it like that on that one [“Yeah We Getting’ Rich”].

Dubcnn:What would you say is the biggest difference between the first album and this album?

It’s a vast difference. Flight 360 is such a conceptual album about dealing and living with life in the first-class, not just being on the plane in first class, but just dealing with a lot of social economic issues. I think we took it back to rhyming and having substance. It’s very visual… We are doing a lot of things over here at Duffle Bag Studios. We’ve been doing this since 97 – over 10 years…

Dubcnn: I know you guys are real busy right now, so thanks so much for a quick second of your time.

Thank you and we are definitely fucking with you all. We will get back up soon.
