Dubcnn: We're right here with Renz Julian in San Francisco, what's going on with you Renz?

Renz Julian: What's good man? I'm just over here, trying to stay on my grind and step my foot down to put my name out there as much as I can. I'm coming with this mixtape, the Demolition Men made it happen, "Alphabet Hustle", it's gonna be in stores June 28th and that's what it is!

Dubcnn: Why did you link up with the Demolition Men for the new "Alphabet Hustle" mixtape?

Renz: When you're in the Bay Area, when it comes to mixtapes and what people are slapping, most of the time it's Demolition Men! Me and DJ Devoe linked up and word on the street is that they've got the hottest mixtapes, so I had to fuck with them on that. That's what it was.

Dubcnn: You had a pretty big single called "Pop N Lock" with E-40 and Twista. Tell us how that song came together and how it took off to become a regional hit?

Renz: That single is still floating around out there, it was off my first full-length album "Armageddon", a radio joint. My management team at FOD Entertainment came together with the idea of coming with a radio single and connecting with some heavy hitters - Twista and E-40. The connect was there, we made it happen and it was what it was! That's just the beginning of it, there's so much more!

*police sirens*

Man, every time you're in Oakland or Frisco, every 30 seconds you hear them sirens going off! Shit is crazy. Summertime, the block be hot, it's crazy. But yeah, the single was "Pop N Lock" featuring Twista and E-40, Collipark did the beat, it was big. We've been pushing that since late '09-2010 but I got a gang of bangers in stores.

On the new mixtape we've got "Pop N Lock Pt. 2", we had to give them something totally different but keeping that situation going. Also, I'm doing the beats now.

Dubcnn: Oh you're producing too?

Renz: I'm producing, yeah. You're gonna see something that's totally unexpected, because niggas ain't even know I was behind the beats like that. Like I said I'm trying to get my name out there in as many ways as possible. It's 2011, I'm just keeping my movement going, that's what it's all about. Staying on the grind.

Dubcnn: For those who haven't heard your music or the Armageddon album, how much you describe yourself as an artist?

Renz: The truest thing about me is, I try to spit real shit from the heart. I don't really try to follow no other nigga's movements or any type of radio hype or nothing like that. I understand the game and what it is or why people are doing what they're doing, but for me, I really try to keep it original and keep it true. But I understand the significance of it, so there will be radio joints and things like that.

The realest shit that I spit though is about life, shit you go through, from shit in the streets to relationships, what you're going through with your parents. Any of that kind of shit. Just real nigga shit, that's all. No fake shit, cause that's cluttering up the game too much these days. Bullshit with muthafuckas making ringtone jingles instead of coming with the real shit.

Dubcnn: On "Alphabet Hustle", who are some of the artists that you collaborated with?

Renz: This time I kept it strictly for the Bay, for the Town. I got J Stalin, I got Balance, Kaz Kyzah (from The Team), my boy AG The Chief and Fed-Ex is on there on a song that was on the Armageddon album that we threw on there. But the rest is me, 24 tracks, banging. Straight real nigga music, from the heart, shit you can ride to, shit you can bounce to in the club, shit you can get introspective on and think about your life. It's something on there for everybody.

Dubcnn: So this is your mixtape, what's next after this project?

Renz: We're gonna let the people decide. If I get a single off this mixtape that I can push, then that's what I'ma run with. After that, it's just on the grind, my label FOD Ent, EMPIRE Distribution, we're finna just keep smashing. We're gonna push a single to radio by the end of the year, if shit takes off then we're coming with the album, videos, mixtapes it don't stop! That's what the game is, constant grinding, and that's where I'm at - mash mode!

Dubcnn: If people hear your music and like it, how can they get at you?

Renz: Hit me on Facebook, facebook.com/renzjulian510, hit me on Twitter, twitter.com/renzjulian1, go to my website renzjulian.com or fodentertainment.net. Make sure you get the album, the mixtape, June 28th, "Alphabet Hustle", hit up iTunes! Cop it, you won't be disappointed.
