..........................................................................................
dubcnn.com: What's goin' down
Spitfiya? To start it off, introduce yourself to everybody out there who
doesn't know you yet!
Okay, first I got a question for you, can I cuss or is it no cussin'?
dubcnn.com: Oh nah, you can cuss and shit!
Okay, cool, I didn't wanna step on nobodies boudaries or nothin.
dubcnn.com: Go head!
Aight man, well this is ya boy Spitfiya representin' the city of Compton! The
next, I'm the nigga that won The Next Episode battle rap competition, signed
to Interscope on Maloof Music, and shit, just know that I'm comin', COMPTON IS
BACK baby! We back! Guerilla Black, Game, Spitfiya, we back!
dubcnn.com: Now, this is an unusual question, but I wanna know how you would
like to be looked at by other people. When people say yo have you heard of
Spitfiya, how would you like them to describe you?
I want them to look at me as an all around MC, you know? Comin' from Compton,
and the West Coast shit, I don't wanna be known as the Gangsta Rapper, or the
rapper that just do gangbang, or rap about the hood. But it's million of
people out there that don't just gangbang. I wanna be known as the overall
rapper.
dubcnn.com: You came up as a Battle Rapper on the Next Episode Show. How was
that?
It was crazy, you know what I'm sayin? Nobody expected a nigga from California
to win, but I had to be the underdog, and be live.
dubcnn.com: Alot of Battle Rappers have a hard time making it in the industry.
How do you feel about that?
See the problem is, it's alot of battle rappers that don't know how to do
songs! Cause it's like, it's hard for some rappers to adapt to the situation,
like jumpin' in the crowd, and I'm just gone battle battle battle. But it's
different when you gotta come to the microphone so people can feel your
presence, you know? It's all about transferring your energy, and alotta people
can't adapt to that. That's the problem.
dubcnn.com: How do you handle that situation? Can you do that?
Yeah! See I've been writing songs like forever. You know, the Battle thing was
cool, but I've always been a song writer. Like I'll go around and do the lil
battle things, here and there, get some money, and spit at that dude to get my
name out. But really I make songs, that's my main thing. I'm not worried about
freestyling the best, battling and all that. I'm just worried about feeding my
family and doing me.
dubcnn.com: You're slogan is COMPTON IS BACK.... Are you positive it's gonna
go down like that?
I'm 100% sure! When we got people like Guerilla Black, Game, me, it's a
thousand of us comin' up right now, like it's a full circle! Slowly but
surely!
dubcnn.com: You mentioned Guerilla Black, what's your relationship with him?
I mean like, it's crazy because all of us somehow know each other. Me, Game,
Guerilla Black, and the other cats comin' up in Compton. Somehow we know each
other, somewhere from somewhere. And everybody supports each other. It's like
a huge movement goin' on, and we got poeple like Ackrite, comin' from Compton,
Bishop Lamont, you know, he from Carson, but he been around Compton, he
familiar with Compton. And everybody's sticking together right now. All of us.
All the new dudes, it's like 50 of us, we grew up going to different battle
competitions, going to this and that, so we seen each other so many times that
we had to get together!
dubcnn.com: When I interviewd the Young Hoggs, they gave you a big shoutout.
Will you be working with them?
Exactly! Once again, that goes into the same thing of all of us working
together right now. We been running this, and everybody knows each other!
That's like my brothers right there!
dubcnn.com: Are you recording a solo album?
Oh I'm working on it right now, I got tracks from Slam Jones, Polo, who had
Ludacris second single, uhm, who else, I got everybody man! Anybodyo that's in
the game right now, I got joints from. Fredwreck, just a whole bunch of
people. I got Ludacris on the album, Snoop gone be hoppin' on the album, uhm,
they talkin' bout puttin' Timbaland on the record... It's about to be a real
big album homie!
dubcnn.com: What's your label situation?
I'm signed to Maloof Music/Interscope Records. The album is comin' up real
soon.
dubcnn.com: When can we expect it?
Like around... between June and August of next year.
dubcnn.com: How do you think it compares to other rap records coming out
currently?
See the difference is, it's not just me. It's a whole movement of all of us.
And all of us is sticking together right now, so you know, once I bridge the
gap, that's gonna help another thousand MC's around California and see the
thing is about it is that makes me better is that I'm different. I'm
versatile. I can rap slow, I can rap fast, I can do stories. Im an overall MC.
I'm not the typical dude you see from Compton that gangbangs, or that raps
about this and that. I'm gonna give you a variety of everything.
dubcnn.com: What would you say to all MC's who ain't in the position to get
put on by shows like "The Next Episode?"
To keep grinding, you know what I'm sayin? Go everywhere that you can to get
exposure to rap. Cause that's what happenned for me. Do NOT give up. When
everybody says you wack, or say that you need to step your game up, don't pay
attention to them. Cause when you go platinum, they won't have shit to say.
dubcnn.com: Who are your personal favorite MC's?
My personal favorite MC's? NWA, Twista, back in the day I mean, not the new
one, but the Twista from back then. Do Or Die, and Timbaland.
dubcnn.com: What about your least favorite MC's? Who can't you stand?
Uhm, I don't know! I'm not a hater. I don't look at other people like that and
knock 'em. Cause if you got a record deal, you got to have something going for
you..
dubcnn.com: What pleases or irks you about hip-hop nowadays?
Right now? it's like, I'm lookin' at it like.. What I like about HipHop right
now on this side, is that everybody is starting to work with each other. It's
starting to get more positive. Before, 5 years ago, everybody was hating on
each other, niggaz wouldn't hook up with each other. If you all get together,
then all of us is gone make it as one! But we don't get as much love as we
should man. But it's gonna get better, it's gonna get wayyy better. Like if
you look at Guerilla Black, when his album dropped, it's not been many rappers
from the West that was on 106 & Park Countdown when they shit drop with their
video. Beside West Side Connection, or Dre.
dubcnn.com: Do you thin you could go head up in a battle with Jin?
Hahahahaha! That's crazy! I get this all the time! *laughs* Let me clear this
up! Jin is the homie! That's my boy! We did stuff on the Wake Up Show and
everything! That's a cool dude, I like his style! We did shows together and
everything. Let me clear it up, it ain't no beef, no nothing, we cool, that's
my boy! RR!
dubcnn.com: But do you still think you could beat him in a battle?
I ain't gone answered that question! *laughs* Cause then that's gonna start up
new rumours and people gone be talking shit!
dubcnn.com: Anything else you would like to let everybody know?
Yeah I got some shoutouts! Shoutouts to the WarDoggs.com, Bishop Lamont,
Logic, Manson, Guerilla Black, Game, Black Wall Street, the whole Maloof Music
Staff, Baby Boy, and shoutouts to the City Of Compton, cause we doin' it! M-M-Malouuuuuf
Mussiiiiiic! Muthafucka!
dubcnn.com: Okay, let everbody know again that your record is comin out again!
Oh, oh, oh!! I Forgot!! Ya'll need to watch out for the Mixtape/DVD! COming
out soon! It's about to be bananas! It's comin' out through my DJ Nina-9,
shoutouts to Nina-9, I got Jin on there *laughs*, I got Mase, Camron, I got
Crooked I, that's my brother, shouts out to Crooked I! I got Sly Boogy, and
everybody that's on the DVD watch out for it, it's coming real soon! Fuck wit
me!
dubcnn.com: And what about the mixtape?
The mixtape is gonna be with the DVD, one CD mixtape, one CD DVD. It's gonna
have battles, shows I did, it's gone have all the big rappers, all the shit!
dubcnn.com: Ok fo sho, that's about it for the questions, thanks for taking
the time to answer it!
That's the business! That's whassup! And I'ma send you my music video!
dubcnn.com: Aight, stay up!
