Dubcnn Exclusive – Ty$
By: Nima Etminan

Dubcnn: We're right here in the studio with Ty$, what's going on with you man?

Ty$: I'm right here regular man, I just got here late, I feel bad, but life is going on! I was just with YG, we're planning out what we're about to do for this next period of life without the homie who just died… G Casso, Rest in Peace. I want to give him a shout out, he produced the song "Hell Yeah" for Chris Brown, Tyga and YG that's about to come out, also he produced one of my songs called "Photoshop" coming out soon, as well as "Double Dip" with Problem, which is produced by me, him and Fuego. So Rest in Peace to G Casso, everybody that knew him knew that he was a real good dude. It's crazy how life goes, but we're here, life goes on like Tupac say - Rest in Peace to 2Pac too.

Dubcnn: A lot of people already heard your voice, but they might not know the name. Let us know how you came up and what got you where you're at right now.

Ty$: You guys probably all heard my voice on this song called Toot It & Boot It", it got kinda big this year and that's a blessing, all praise is due. Now I have a new song called "All Star", as well as another song called "Go Girl", both of them with Joe Moses. I got "Double Dip" with Problem, man I got like 10 songs out on the radio right now, praise God. So it's kind of cool! *laughs*

Dubcnn: What's your relationship with YG?

Ty$: YG is my lil homie, we're all from this clique called Pushaz Ink out here in L.A., we're probably the biggest dudes doing in besides Joe Moses and a couple other cats from out hee. YG is my homie, I met him through my big homie Big B from my hood and ever since then we've just been out here in these streets pushing this music real hard.

Dubcnn: You seem to have a ear for songs that make it big on radio, is that what you're pushing for, mainstream success?

Ty$: I definitely wanna get my name out there in the mainstream, underground as well, I do all kinds of music. I wanna get my name out on everything that has to do with music, from scoring music to playing rock music, every instrument, I'm there.

Dubcnn: You're proper introduction is your new mixtape dropping May 2nd, let us know what it's called and what people can expect.

Ty$: It's called "House On The Hill", you can expect an experience of my house on the hill right here in L.A. looking over the city on top of L.A.. That's also my email for those of you who know and man, it's a blessing. But with good does come bad, and that's what I've happened to realize. It's crazy though, man.

Dubcnn: So the mixtape is free?

Ty$: The mixtape is gonna be free, but probably only for a couple of weeks and then we're gonna sell it. But it's gonna be up there for free anyway, cause once it circulates, it circulates. I'ma let ya'll get that, but it will be for sale eventually too, so go buy that if you like real good music.

Dubcnn: Who can we expect on there along with you?

Ty$: You can hear a whole bunch of swag. It's a bunch of features but I'ma wait till it comes out so ya'll can see, I ain't gonna ruin the whole suspense. Swag! (Editor's note: The mixtape dropped today and features Snoop Dogg, will.i.am, Wiz Khalifa, Problem, Terrace Martin, YG, G Casso, Joe Moses amongst others).

Dubcnn: You had a song you did with Terrace Martin and Wiz Khalifa -

Ty$: Now you given' it away man! That's one of them on there. Haha I'm just fuckin' with you. But yeah that shit is gonna be on there, me Wiz and Terrace Martin, it's called "Go Get It". It's just a whole bunch of good music going on, Terrace played the sax on there, we put the vocoder, it's crazy.

Dubcnn: You sing, but you also produce, is that correct?

Ty$: Yes. I produced "Toot It & Boot It", I produced "Double Dip", however "All Star" the homie Fuego produced.

Dubcnn: What are your plans after this mixtape?

Ty$: After this mixtape, I'm dropping another mixtape and an album. The album is gonna be called "Free TeeCee", just hit after hit after hit, God willing. That's it, I'ma keep on doing it over and over and over.

Dubcnn: What's the meaning behind the name of the album?

Ty$: TeeCee is my little brother, he got locked up for a murder he didn't do, like I know for a fact that he didn't do it. They got a smoker lady to be the witness and she was a crackhead, but we couldn't say that because it would have pulled up some other shit that he did in the past. So it was a real bad situation. With this album, I'm gonna use a lot of the money to get him a great lawyer and get him out. He didn't deserve this and there are a lot of convicts out there in jail that don't deserve it and didn't really do it. So free TeeCee, go get the album when it comes out. Swag.

Dubcnn: Where would you like to see yourself ideally, in the next years?

Ty$: With 20 number hits and I wanna be able to change music, bring real music back and I want people to feel it, for real. Right now, it seems like people are feeling the shit we're doing, so I'll keep doing it. Once I got everybody fuckin' with me, I'ma change music all the way around and everybody's gonna follow that and it's gonna be real music. Then we ain't gonna have to hear this bullshit no more.

Dubcnn: Anything else you wanna let everybody know?

Ty$: I just wanna let everybody know "All Star" is on iTunes right now, you can go pick that up. May 2nd, get that "House On The Hill" and thank ya'll for fuckin' with me! For real.
