Compton rap veteran Wes Coas recently took time to speak with Dubcnn on
today, January 27th 2011 to coincide with the release date of his new free
album, "Paper Planes." Featuring appearances from Z-Ro and production from
Epik (Wale, etc) and more, "Paper Planes" is Wes Coas most versatile project
yet.
In the interview, Wes Coas takes us through his mind and the process of
how he created each of the 14 tracks that appear on the album.

Dubcnn: Ticketing
I wanted to delve into my state of mind , like I don't care
anymore I've settled into this is how its gonna be and I'm fine with
that.
Dubcnn: Can you feel it
This song is a about the energy of the moment and momentum that I've
been feeling and I thought about when Shaq said can you dig it (a play
on the warriors movie)
Dubcnn: My Angle featuring Chris Clarke
That's with my friend who I first started rhyming with and we had never
done a song together since we got serious about music so I wanted to
just go on there and rap about what go's on in my creative process in
the first verse and the my second verse was like let me just rap for a
minute

This was just addressing a lot of sideways comments people were having
and jealousy, plus it was fun to just kinda let off some steam and I
knew that a lot of people would feel the same way

This was more about looking at the life i have now and viewing it from
the place others may see it but looking at it like why me and answering
that

That's about how my approach to music has always been trying to help
others because a lot of people helped me so its only right to assist

Fuck all the extra I'm trying to get this and I'm out, you can have
groupies, cars and jewellery 10mil and I'm out

Dubcnn: Traveled so far
This the first kinda autobiographical song on the CD all the songs have
elements but this is just how I feel about the experience from beginning
to this point now and how its changed my views
Dubcnn: Paper Planes
Pure frustration I literally woke up that morning and wrote that song
and recorded it, just kinda felt like no one is listening to what you
are saying, they hear and see what they want to see, to the detriment of
you if it helps them get what they want. So is kinda like I see ya'll

Dubcnn: Leaving You featuring Frontman
It wasn't originally my song but I asked about to get it and
get on it because it just fit the issues that I go through now, still
about choosing side still dealing with BS women even when you grow from
one situation you grow into another
Dubcnn: Beautiful Mind featuring Zro & Frontman
This song I wanted people to try and just venture within themselves and
see what they could find out about themselves you have 4 different
perspectives A poet, A Professor, A Pimp, A Pupil me being the last it
just multi-layers that design a person.
Dubcnn: NiteLife
I just wanted to have something people could party to and
celebrate life, we can't always be so serious and focused, Live!!!! We
only get one life.
