Demrick aka Young De & Scoop DeVille (September 2010) | Interview By:
Nima Etminan

Today
we have some unreleased interview footage for ya'll that I filmed last
summer with Demrick, who was still going by Young De at the time, in super
producer Scoop DeVille's studio.
The two are releasing an EP together, which should be dropping digitally in
the near future. In this interview De also announces the Serial Killaz
project consisting of Xzibit, B-Real & Demrick aka Young De. He tells the
tale of how he first hooked up with dubcnn through Kurupt and the smoke
sessions in Amsterdam.
Scoop played a couple of beats and tells us about the influence of his
father OG Kid Frost and working with Snoop Dogg (at that time for Malice In
Wonderland. This is right before Scoop had his big break when I Wanna Rock
came out and he started to get recognition all across the board. De and
Scoop gives us their Top 5 MC's & Producers and we hear a couple of beats.
As ever, you can read this exclusive interview below and we urge you to leave
feedback on our forums or email them to
contact@dubcnn.com.

Dubcnn: De, I know you're all over the world, I heard you're
about to go back to Europe?
De: Yeah man I love Sunday, Smoke & Mirrors tour, touching 23
cities, we're going all over. All of August, I'll see you when I get
back in September!
Dubcnn: People are probably confused, like who is Young De with?
They see you on tour with B-Real, next they see you on tour with Xzibit?
De: I'm Audio Hustla family all day, but I roll with Xzibit and we do
what we do. Me, Xzibit and B-Real are actually working on a project
together called Serial Killers.
Dubcnn: Hold on, Young De, B-Real and Xzibit doing an album?
De: Yeah it's going down, we're already into it, it's probably gonna be
a digital Ep first. It's in the works about how we're gonna do it, but
we're working on it and it's cracking. I roll with everybody. People who
know me from dubcnn for a long time, they know I came out here through
Kurupt. So first I was affiliated with the Dogg Pound Family tree, then
started fuckin' with Cypress Hill and B-Real and now I'm fuckin' with
Xzibit. Real recognize real and those are legends, I feel lucky to be
around them.
Dubcnn: You're also working with Scoop Deville. I believe you
guys are working on an EP?
De: He's the hottest producer on the West Coast, hands down, Scoop
Deville!
Dubcnn: Scoop, what made you wanna fuck with De?
Scoop Deville: Me and De been doing shit for a little minute now, ever
since the B-Real album we've been collaborating. We always said we were
gonna do something, we clicked up with the Audio Hustlaz camp, B-Real.
I've been workin also on the Serial Killers LP with him X and B-Real.
I've been working on Snoop Dogg's LP, fuckin' with Cory Gunz on some
East Coast shit too. Corey Gunz is amazing, we've got stuff with him for
his new Drama CD that's gonna come out, Gangsta Grillz. We just dropped
the Bishop Lamont video "Errday In The Streets", shouts out to everybody
who was there and did cameos. We're just gonna keep continuing to make
good music and that's it. What else is there to say?
De: Let's smoke some weed mayne! *laughs* We gotta take advantage, cause
in Amsterdam even though the Kush is good out there, ain't nothin like
this California Kush. What's your thoughts on that Nima?
Dubcnn: I agree with you. Let's see what I have in my pocket
right here... Feel free to try it out.
De: It's crazy how I met Nima in the beginning man, he came to my house
like a long time ago during the Kurupt Presents Tangled Thoughts project
that I had.
Scoop Deville: Shout out to Kurupt!
Young De: Shouts out to Kurupt. Back then I lived in Valancia or
something. That's some way back shit.
Dubcnn: Before the first Tangled Thoughts album came out.
De: Yeah that had to be right after our first year in Cali.
Dubcnn: I got out here and got an E-Mail from a publicist saying
Kurupt had a new group, the Tangled Thoughts. I was like "Tangled
Thoughts?" *laughs*
De: Now here we are, smoking weed, drinking and making music. Dubcnn
man, very first website that supported my music and the group that I was
in. Ain't nothing, I'm always gonna extend my hand to you, Nima and
everybody else, Rud, everybody up there. It's like a family affair. I go
there first, I still check that bitch every day!
Dubcnn: Yes sir. Scoop, I believe you've been working on Snoop
Dogg's new album?
Scoop Deville: Yeah Snoop Dogg showed a lot of love last year on his
"Ego Trippin" album, this year finna be just as good. We've got a lot of
other projects we're working on, Get Busy Committee album, Mike Shinoda
from Linkin Park. Get Busy Committee is gonna be the next Hip-Hop shit
hands down. Young De is gonna be a part of that movement as well. I've
got so many things on the table, I can't even tell you how much stuff
we've got lined up. You just gotta stay tuned for the ride, stay online
for all the updates, it's gonna be a fuckin' crazy ride.. Right, De?!
De: Better believe it man. Oh and add me on
Twitter, fuck the bullshit, hit me up. It's that easy.
Scoop Deville:
@scoopdeville.
Dubcnn: Scoop, being the son of a West Coast, nah scrap that, a
Hip-Hop legend, how much does that influence your music or influenced it
in the beginning?
Scoop Deville: It does a lot, because I was around him my whole life.
This is all I know, this is all I know how to do. I don't do anything
else. I didn't do school, I did straight music, I had records when I was
15-16 on the Billboard charts. I've been around greats like B-Real, Eazy-E
and everybody out here on the West Coast that did it, to now being
respected by the likes of Snoop Dogg and Xzibit. What more could you
want? Regardless, we're trying to make good music and X out all the
phony shit. We're not down with the fake shit, we wanna do the real
music and people who ain't with it are gonna get hit with it.
Dubcnn: Scoop, give me 5 rappers on the West right now that
you're feeling.
Scoope Deville: Young De, Get Busy Committee, Scoop Deville, Bishop
Lamont and Xzibit. Ya'll better get ready for the Xzibit album.
Dubcnn: De, give me 5 producers.
De: Scoop Deville, B-Real, Apathy, DJ Muggs and a dude named Dublin
Beats, he's got a winner on the Serial Killers project right now. That's
my 5. (Editor's Note: De later added LOS and G-Rocka to his list)
Dubcnn: Anything else before we go?
Scoop Deville: Shouts out to everybody on the West Coast, shouts out to
Nipsey Hussle, Jay Rock, everybody that's pushing. We're all in a big
melting pot, get ready for us. Shouts out to Soul Assassins. Keep it
pushing.
De: Hit me up on
Twitter,
MySpace. We're gonna get fuckin' high right now, man. Let's
smoke some weed.
