some puerto ricans from SC that my cousins know told me that he´s from a blood hood but those same cats swear that their mexican :loser: so like i said they aint no credible sources ;D

I'd believe that, except that you hear Dre using Crip slang throughout "The Chronic" - he refers to cats as "loc" many times, especially on "Fuck Wit Dre Day".  If he really lived in a Piru hood, I doubt he'd be doing that, because even if he never actually banged, he probably wouldn't want to disrespect the niggas he came up with.
well Snoop did write some of the lyrics for Dre along with the D.O.C. so that could explain the Loc references(but you´re prolly right). but Dre´s never really claimed any street or nothing so it´s hard to know coz pretty much all of the rappers has mentioned the street(s)they grew up on but i´ve never heard Dre name the street he grew up on.

Yeah, but Dre would've still had SOME input on those lyrics, and if he had any allegiance whatsoever to Piru homies, he would have told Snoop to change "loc" to "dawg" or "Blood" - those are all single-syllable words that could've easily been interchanged.  The fact that he was even with Snoop in the first place says something by itself.

As I've said before, most accounts I've heard suggest Dre hung out on Atlantic Drive, so he probably was close with those cats.  I think the rumors about him being a Blood are because he went to Centennial High, and the Bloods originally took their colors from there, but since Dre wasn't actually from the Crip card, it wouldn't have been a problem for him to get along with them.  Bottom line is, he never was a banger.

a lot of people thought dre was a crip, because he always said "loc". not to many people took into consideration that snoop was the one writing his lyrics

There may be better and more positive things to teach about America than gangs, but fact is that a lot of young people are affected by gangs, so it's a relevant topic to young people. C's & B's are a good example for this kinda topic, since they're known world wide 'cause of gangsta rap. When I was in high school, in my English class we'd study phenomenons and cultures in English-speaking countries, and gang culture was one of those topics. (We didn't discuss C's & B's though.) It's not like we studied how to act like those cats or be like them - we studied and tried to understand what were the factors behind that culture. Not only in Denmark do they have these kinds of things in English class... For us at least English class wasn't just about the language, but also about cultures in English speaking countries.
