Guest appearances

I like to see some of my favorite artists do collabos on someone else's CD, but damn........I think too many CD's now just have too many damn guest appearances on them, especially by people you don't wanna hear.  I wanna hear SOLO songs from the artist, you know what I'm sayin'?  That's another reason why I like Blueprint and Stillmatic so much; because there are minimal guest appearances.  That shit kills albums.

Yeah, I agree too many guest appearences these days. Guest appearences can be the best thing about the album with two of your favourite rappers flowing together but these days there are too many guest appearences  >:(

there is many people that can make an album without having many features...dre cant though...he has never claimed to be an mc...he has always said hes a producer first...so hes a bad example...people like snoop...well...they just want to put other people on the scene....theyve made their name....snoop has enough money and fame...thats why hes promoting tha eastsidaz and bad azz...nas...well he tried promoting his clique...but compilations dont really help....that why when snoop puts tha eastsidaz on a song on his album hes promoting them...compilations rarely promote the young talent....i mean dont get me wrong i would love to see people with less guest apperances....but most people are trying to promote their homies...and i cant knock that....

i def agree wit u fellas, when an artist comes out there should be a minimal amount of mc's, because if u think bout it.........what r u buyin the album for, the guests or the mc....for example rakim never has featured one mc on his albums as far as other mc's, so i think he is entitled to about 2 or 3 slots for "oh my god".......and i still think thats a lot........holllllllllllllla
peace

I think it depends on the artist... few guest appearances are if the MC is an astonishing lyricist (Nas/Eminem)... but some rappers need guest vocals to add flavor to their album.

I hate albums flooded with guests unless it's Dr. Dre or any other uber-producer because their main focus is production.

True dat, and WCV is right too.
Imagine what a Eric Sermon album would be without guest appearences, you're basically left with E Dub sayin different versions of "I'm in the zone" etc. etc.
