Question about "holla at me" on AEOM
« on: January 28, 2006, 11:17:48 PM »
i'm bumping this track right now and i've always wondered if the first verse by Pac was aimed at B.I.G.  what do you guys think?

Are you confused ?
You wonder how it feels to walk a mile inside tha shoes
of a nigga who don't have a thing to lose
When me and you was homies
no one informed me it was all a scheme
You infiltrated my team and sold a niggas dreams
how could you do me like that ?
I took ya family in
I put some cash in ya pocket
made you a man again
and now you let tha fear put your ass in a place
complicated to escape
It's a fools fate
without your word
your a shell of a man
I lost respect for you nigga
we can never be friends
I know i'm runnin' through your head now
what could you do ?
If it was up to you
i'd be dead now
I let tha world know nigga you a coward
You could never be live
until you die
see tha mothafucken bitch in your eye
Type of Nigga, that let tha evil of tha money trap me
when ya see me nigga
ya better holla at me (holla at me)
can't let tha evil of tha money trap me
So when ya see me nigga
Ya better Holla at me

Some say Biggie,some say Stretch
"One day Alice came to a fork in the road and saw a Cheshire cat in a tree. "Which road do I take?" she asked. "Where do you want to go?" was his response. "I don't know," Alice answered. "Then," said the cat, "it doesn't matter."

He's obviously talking about Biggie. Stretch got killed on November 30th, 1995. All Eyez On Me was released on February 13rd, 1996. The only time 2Pac talks about Stretch is in the Makaveli album, in the song "Against All Odds", when he says: "and to that n*gga that was down for me, rest his head, switched sides guess his new friends wanted him dead."

Theirs a number of people he could be talking about.  It sounds like he's going at Biggie, but then again why wouldn't he mention Biggie by name.  On other occasions he never had a problem mentioning Biggie by name.

He didn't have to say his name, it was clear already. This track is mad underrated. Imo it's better than Hit 'Em Up.

But Hit Em Up is mad overrated. I agree it's a classic in every sence of the word, but the track itself isn't even that great.

I agree, Hit Em UP is one of my least favorite Pac tracks, it's shameful IMO.

How can a classic be overrated?

^^It's a classic because it's an influential track and it's a superhit, even 10 years after it came out.  ;)

He didn't need to spit Big'z name...he thought the rhymes would speak for themselves.

I put it like this: Pac came harder than Hit Em Up on this one.
What Goes Around, Comes Around

My enemies deceased
Died like a bitch
When my album hit tha streetz
Niggas Can't C Me
