Career talk: "Graphic Designing"
« on: February 06, 2006, 03:24:29 PM »
I was wondering.  Are there anyone pursuing this job?  Are there a lot of jobs for graphic designing?

it probably depends on where you're from.  You'd have to look into what type of people/businesses use graphic designers, how often they use them, and then see how big the industry is in your area.

I know that with programs like photoshop becoming cheaper and easier to use, desktop publishers aren't being used as much.

But if you got a job at a graphic design firm, I'm sure you'd stay busy.  You'd probably have to be pretty good at it tho.

I see.  I mean creativity comes into play, right?  I'm taking graphic designing and starting tomorrow.  I wanted to do ads and website graphics for music, movies...and etc.  I may not get good money, but it's something I would love to try.  Any opinions on what ya think about graphic designing?

like dude said, depends where you are... pay isn't the best unless you REAL good, or unless you own your own company...

i did graphic design for a while, i had the creative side of things, but i'm slightly colour blind, some blues and purples are hard to distinguish, and some green and brown etc... so i bailed on the concept, didn;t like the idea of being handi-capped in a career, could prove to be too time consuming...

otherwise i would have stuck with it, and probably been successful too. i'd say there is a good chance you would have to move out of your city to find employment, unless you live in a major city in the world.
