it probably depends on where you're from. You'd have to look into what type of people/businesses use graphic designers, how often they use them, and then see how big the industry is in your area. I know that with programs like photoshop becoming cheaper and easier to use, desktop publishers aren't being used as much. But if you got a job at a graphic design firm, I'm sure you'd stay busy. You'd probably have to be pretty good at it tho.
like dude said, depends where you are... pay isn't the best unless you REAL good, or unless you own your own company... i did graphic design for a while, i had the creative side of things, but i'm slightly colour blind, some blues and purples are hard to distinguish, and some green and brown etc... so i bailed on the concept, didn;t like the idea of being handi-capped in a career, could prove to be too time consuming...otherwise i would have stuck with it, and probably been successful too. i'd say there is a good chance you would have to move out of your city to find employment, unless you live in a major city in the world.
colour blindness is a from birth thing.. something like 3/10 men have it (its v rare in women).. i'm also colour blind in a similar way... this is the most common form. i knew a dude who couldnt tell yellow from white.. that was odd!
yeah yelllow white is weird...like said the way you described is how iam. its just not seeing as much red as you should.. which is why purple looks like blue.. take the red away from purple and you see blue.. get it? same with brown and green
