You can all lay off my inbox now with the requests for the latest Warren G video, i told you it would be available for download here on dubcnn as soon as possible and as promised, we got it! The second single from Warren G's latest album "In The Mid-Night Hour" features long time friend and collaborator Nate Dogg, the track is called "I Need A Light" and in its first two days of release on MySpace.com it racked up 28,000 plays and rocketed to #44 on the Billboard charts.

The track is one of the smoothest on the new album and is perfectly accompanied by the tones of Nate Dogg, speaking on the song Warren G commented: "‘I Need a Light’ is a song to sit back and listen to if you are stressin’ over something. Listen to the hook and it makes you feel good. As far as the lyrics in the song, I’m talking about growing up in Long Beach, some of the s*#! I went through, everything from what I saw as a kid up until now. We got to do it."

Nate Dogg also took time to break down his thoughts on the record: "This song is deep ‘cuz all of our other songs are about regulating on someone or having fun, talking ‘bout the game. It’s about when you are going through s*#!, you got people who smoke just to relax themselves. Like, I need a light man, there is so much going on in my life that I just need to relax. Or dammit, go get me a bottle or something ‘cuz I need a drink. There’s just so much stress going off, let me relax myself. That’s where I was going with the song. That’s where it’s at."

The music video for "I Need A Light" takes on a late 1940's post second world war period feel with contemporary flair and is the brainchild of director Paul Hunter; he explains the concept: "The overall tone of the video shows the classic side of Warren – how he built his empire from the streets of Long Beach and expanded it to the world. He is showing everyone that we can have a good time, look good and dress well. It’s all about class and treating people right. It’s really about the classy style of hip-hop."

Boston - So I was listening to the radio in the car for a couple of seconds while I changed CD's last night and they had this "battle of the beats" competition.  I was about to start listening to the CD when the DJ mentioned "I Need A Light with Warren G & Nate Dogg."  So I kept listening because you never hear no West Coast tracks on the radio out here.  Unfortunately I missed the entire "battle" and they were mentioning the winner.  Some fucked up no-name wacked ass song beat out "I Need A Light" 

Anyway, I threw on the CD and bumped the fuck outta "I Need A Light" in protest 

This also reminded me why I don't listen to wack ass radio.
