Hip hop has grown considerably over the last 30 years. To say that Premo's production style is more "real hip hop" than Dre's production style doesn't really make sense. If you look at it like that, then stuff that DJ Quik and the Roots have done over the years isn't "real hip hop" either, and that does what they do a huge disservice.

Uh, who said that Primo is "more real hip hop" than Dre? My statement was that, to me, Primo is a personification of a cut and dry, straight forward hip hop.  Cutting and Scratching, breakbeats, etc.  Dre doesn't really do his beats that way.  He is still 100% hip hop, but Premier's style is reminscent of the way beats were crafted when hip hop first began.  Dre's beats are usually much more sophisticated and has evolved.  Primo has evolved as well, but he still practices a lot of old school techniques in his work.

Word.  Dre & Primo got a catalogue of classics.  Timbo ain't got that.  Dre's production is more sophisticated than Preme, but Preme keeps it stricty HIP HOP on his beats.  I love all of them.

stricitly hiphop means... just samples from dusty grooves.. no real 'production' at all outside flipping someone elses shit..

what do you think dre does?...........he flips samples in his own way........you'd be surprised how much of his music is based off of samples.......its not as obvious because he has many of them replayed.........just cuz its a different form of producing doesnt mean you can take credit away from what premier has done

that doesnt mean more tracks had samples in them... not all samples need to be credited...

some of dre's biggest hit's were clear cut samples, hardly no difference to the original, "nothin but a g thang" "california love" "no digity"..

I disagree strongly with this. Dr. Dre definitely makes music for the hip hop community. He has innovated more than any one individual in the last 20 years. He's created a whole new style of music, when you view hip hop from a musical standpoint. To say that Dr. Dre is not hip hop is a slap in the face to not only Dre, but many other hip hop artists such as Dre who have innovated and tried doing things differently. I guess using your definition, Outkast isn't hip hop, Roots isn't hip hop, DJ Quik isn't hip hop, E40 isn't hip hop, no individual who does anything besides sampling a break beat and putting scratches in the middle is hip hop. No one who innovates anything is hip hop. Let's keep it real and rap like they did in the 70's. I understand why people wouldn't consider 50 cent hip hop but Eminem is definitely hip hop, I don't see how he isn't (although Encore was horrible). Eminem on his first 2 albums was lyrically killing it, so how is that not hip hop?

3) Dre and Premo have the best catalogue in their own style(s), no question about that
4) Why did you bring Timbo in the discussion. Don't get me wrong, he has been consistent for 8-9 years but he shouldn't be mentioned in the same sentence as Dre or Premo

You fucking nuts...how can you say prem is not a real producers.....Dre said it himself,no matter what your style of production is or what you use,its still gonna be on how that person arrange the music...nigga all that finding samples ,and cutting and shit aint easy....you got to have a ear for different sounds......(you sounding like a east coast hata,running a west coast sit.)
