def jam signs ...
« on: February 22, 2002, 12:03:36 PM »

112 GOES WITH DEF JAM: After a rumored acrimonious split from Bad Boy Records, the four-member Atlanta-based R&B group 112 have signed with Def Jam Records. Negotiations for the deal, spearheaded by The Firm's Kenneth Crear and Marcus Grant, and attorney Steve Shapiro, were held under tight wraps as Arista Records sought to sweep Bad Boy's entire roster into its fold after the label was recently dissolved. As of now, only Faith Evans is confirmed to have signed with Arista, with crooner Carl Thomas expected to join the sultry soulstress. Left up in the air is the final destination of pop female vocal group Dream, which was assembled by Bad Boy founder Sean "P. Diddy" Combs. New material is expected from 112 in the third quarter. Bad Boy is Just Looking For A New Parent Label, Puffy Was Unhappy With Arista's Promotion, As For Faith If I'm Not Mistaken She Was Signed To Both Bad Boy & Arista... It's Good To See 112 Sign With A Label Who Knows Hot To Promote Their Talent...

Muthaphukkaz, I predicted this shit back like 6 months ago in my Junkyard column on record label dynisties. LOL... I had in side the game sources, but I wouldn't tell who... but check out my Junkyard column, at the time Arista wanted Puffy out, it just took Puffy wanting the same.

I heard a rumor that Def Jam is going to re-create a West Coast branch like they did back in the day with South Central Cartel? Def Jam West just like how they have Def Jam South.
