Does MTV still show music videos??

One thing I can give props to them for is that they ALWAYS play west coast songs in the backgrounds of their shows...I've heard several songs on there that I rarely heard outside of L.A., such as #2 off Bad Azz Personal Business and "How we get down", Sly Boogy "That's my name", and some other tracks.

I've noticed that too. But since the only other "music" channel I watch is BET (which does nothing but rides the south's dick)  I thought it was somewhat normal.

that's funny man, i was thinking the same thing the other day. i've also heard a few of knoc's songs in the backround of misc. shows. every now and then i get kinda surprised. it's kinda sad that our "westcoast hits" get thrown into the backround of cribs episodes  i bet 95% of people think it's just some random beat.

The sad thing is it's a cheap way for them to not acknowledge the people behind the music.

my friend was actually talkin about this a couple days ago. it's shitass that they've gone completely mainstream pop on the public. but like it was said b4, only time u can watch videos is from like 3 am - 10 am.

i don't really blame mtv for not showing music videos anymore


-most music that's out sucks dick anyway
    1. no one is making any good videos, it's all the same, how many cars and women u can get
    2. all the artists that make good videos are usually so underground or werid for most people
    3. it's not profitable to just show music videos

-you can sell pop culture better than you can sell pop records

     1. mtv just showing music videos made ARTISITS rich
     2. mtv showing only shows , makes THEM rich, they can sell dvds merchandise, movie rights , endorsements, ect.
    3. they can cater to advertisers better because they are more in control over what is being broadcasts

I understand what a lot of you people are saying about why MTV doesn't play much music videos. But the fact remains that MTV stands for Music Television. I'm not saying they need to show music videos all day like they use to, but they should still have a suffiecent amount of music progams. I'd even say shows like the osburnes and pimp my ride are music shows because they feature musicans. If they want to show all non-music shows then they should change there names and stop frontin'.

Yes. They have a MTV, MTV2, MTV Jams, & a MTV Hits.

And remember when VH1 used to be on MTV?  They got VH1 Classics, VH1 Country and VH1 Soul.

Then of course BET.

All I watch is Music Videos. TV sucks now at days.
