Why make this comparision in the first place anyway? This shit is killing me: you just can't appreciate a great player without comparing him to the best players of the past to discredit him? Everybody compared to Jordan is gonna loose: Kobe, Wade, LeBron, Pierce, Allen.. People should compare todays SG to Kobe, cause he's the best player in the League at the moment, and he's the one who people should be compared to see how good they are. Instead nobody does it (Kobe winner) to compare Kobe himself to Jordan (Kobe looser): like if he can't be better than Jordan he's overrated and shit. Overrated? C'mon. what i'm talking about how people say Kobe is better than Jordan as of today, who knows what kobe will do in 5-10 years but as of right now to say Kobe is better than Jordan is stupid.  Now i have seen several interviews where they have asked kobe what he thought of being compared to Jordan and so forth and kobe's response is something dealing with "jordan being the greatest" i don't know where you could find the interview coz this was way back in the day, but i do remember seeing it on SportsCenter.

The best way to compare them is when both players have left their marks.
Jordan's career is done, and we already know what greatness he has achieved, and the legacy that he has left
Kobe's career is not done yet, not at all, hes already achieved greatness, but lets just wait till the end so it will be more fair to compare the impact, legacy, stats, etc. each player left in the game of basketball

Actually, no, we still needed bigs at that time and Vlade wanted to stay in LA. Jerry West just really wanted Kobe, he made that publically known...We got Sean Rooks as a replacement for Vlade, though we would have loved to have kept Vlade coming off the bench that year...Kobe was special and the Laker organization saw it in him, just like they believe they see in Bynum right now...End of story...PeACe
