I dont know the origins of thier beef but at a Flavour Flav birthday party, these two rowed.

LL cool J was throwing his arms about, shouting, all nervous and being held back by his pals.

Ice was standing thier with his arms folded and asked LL to step outside.

Biz Markie wanted to beat up LL as well for some reason at that time.

Ice mocked LL something funny on that 'Pusher' track.

Fuck LL. nah (laughing) What happened was I was the number 1 rapper in LA at the time. I didnt have a record out but everybody knew. The streets know first. LL came out and he was talking crazy about he the best, the greatest rapper in the world and this and that. So for me to represent the West Coast i had to come at LL, i was put in a pressure situation like "diss this nigga" you just diss him! So i was like, hell you aint all that, you know you think you hot, i think i can beat you. So we went after LL in I'm You Pusher, you know we slightly dissed him. Then we dissed him on the Syndicate. So then LL got pissed, and he wrote back called Break of Dawn, where he dissed me Kool Mo Dee and Hammer. Then what happened was it got serious.

LA niggas are crazy, dont get it twisted. They was like "lets fuck up LL". LA people are real violent. So the LA niggas like, "Fuck LL, he can't diss you" and i was like but we dissed him and they like "but he can't diss you!" So it got to the point where LL wanted to join the Zulu nation. Bam wanted him to join. I had a lightweight beef with him, Bam sat us down and said look, y'all gotta stop this nonsense and stop trippin because we trying to get Hiphop on one, you know, together, so me and LL sat there out of respect for Afrika Bambata, and shook hands and said i will not diss you anymore. It doesnt mean i got to like you, it means i will not diss you anymore. So then when people asked what was up with LL, i was like i aint got no time to diss LL, i got muthafuckas with white hoods chasing me you know?

I mean LL has had an incredible career, he is a tremendous rapper, do not get it twisted, but it was at a time when Hiphop was growing, and in order to stake your claim, you had to be willing to take on anyone, and LL was the guy that was calling himself that best in the world and Ice T had to step up. No real hatred, i dont dislike the guy like that its just rap
