FUNK music.

I've been really gettin into the funk music. I love Roger Troutman's shit and George Clinton's music is good too. Can anybody recommend anything?

The Gap Band check the Greatest Hits. "Cutie Pie" is the best song they ever did so make sure you check that out.

Zapp is my favorite old school group though.

There's a modern funk band I like, called "Dag" that's really good, but most people never heard of 'em.   They're like Glam Rock/Funk pretty cool stuff.  There best song is "Our love would be much better (if I gave a damn)"

another good one is Breakestra, they started out doing covers, but they do their own stuff now too. their cd has is one long set where they flip from track to track (mostly covers) in a live sesh. oh.. and they mostly flip stuff thats been sampled in hiphop - and they often work with people like cut chemist.
