LAKERS To Sign Veteran Point-Guard...

...........................................................

...........................................................
................................Shammond Williams

A 31 year old 6'1" 200 lbs point-guard with career averages of 6.1 PPG (40.1% FG, 36.3% 3FG) and 2.5 APG in 17 MPG throughout 6 seasons with Atlanta, Seattle, Denver, Boston, Orlando, & New Orleans (1998-2003)...He then fled to Russia to recieve more playing time and develop his game...Now he's back, and word is that Phil Jackson was heard leaking out his signing with the Lakers on the radio...Dunno how legit this is, but this doesn't sound too great...Who knows though, Smush Parker turned out to be much more than we expected and I'm hoping the same for Shammond...I really want/wanted Kareem Rush though... :-\

The Lakers don't need another point guard. They already have Parker, Banks, and Farmer. :P They should have gotten Rush as a SG.

Lakers never ended up signing Banks...LOL. Our PG rotation is currently Smush, Farmar, & Vujacic...That's why many believe we're still lacking in that area...I dunno how true the Shammond Williams signing is, but Kareem Rush is currently playing on Orlando's summer league team...PeACe

Dunno, haven't seen his current play in Russia...But this is how the team would probably look if the signing went down...

PG Smush Parker...Jordan Farmar/Shammond Williams
SG Kobe Bryant...Sasha Vujacic/JR Pinnock
SF Lamar Odom...Luke Walton/Maurice Evans
PF Vladamir Radmanovic...Brian Cook/Ronny Turiaf
C Kwame Brown...Chris Mihm/Andrew Bynum

Not bad...It can work.

Shamond Williams A Laker?
By Mike Bresnahan, Times Staff Writer
July 9, 2006

The Lakers are close to a deal with Shammond Williams, a 6-1 guard who has played with six NBA teams. The Lakers are trying to complete financial discussions with Williams' pro team in Spain.

Williams, 31, has career averages of 6.1 points and 2.5 assists with Atlanta, Seattle, Boston, Denver, Orlando and New Orleans. He last played in the NBA in the 2003-04 season.

The Lakers, who agreed to terms last week with former Clippers forward Vladimir Radmanovic, could sign Williams with their biannual exception, which allows teams that are over the salary cap to sign a player for about $3.5 million over two years.

They should have kept Van Excel. He had a killer 3pt. just because he cracked a dumb joke? He would'nt be with mighty San Antonio if he was wack.

I never said you're not a Laker fan, I said true Laker fans care about who the Lakers sign...He's a veteran point-guard, far from a piece of shit...An unproven NBA player? Yes...A piece of shit? Not quite yet....Let's see how he does before we judge him...PeACe
