is it possible to charge your ipod without having itunes installed?

if not, then is it possible to charge it with itunes, but without losing all your songs, this being when youre on a different computer than normal..

im out at my dads house for the summer and have to charge my ipod but odnt want all the songs to be lost

you just have to check the setting that says like 'do not automatically update my library' or something like that...i can't remember exactly what it says
