Heard Game Theory for the first time just now and...
« on: August 18, 2006, 12:34:33 AM »
...its gotta be in the top 3 hip-hop albums of the year. Like almost every track was bangin, no filler. When does this drop officially because I wanna be sure to support this?

Damn, everything I heard before about it said it was terrible. I always thought saying that was a bit weird - it's The Roots, they always come off correct.

I feel it was more consistent than The Tipping Point. So if you liked that album, I'm pretty sure this one will be on par at least.

I tried listening to the webrip and thought it was terrible, i could attribute that to the shit quality though.  now that the retail is out im gonna check it.

i know the jperiod roots mixtape was the shit, im feeling the first single though. 'dont feel right' .  i didn't hear the album yet, but even if its one of their poorer efforts, its still better than 95% of hip hop out now today.

I'd give the album a 3/5, Don't Feel Right is a banger but something has been missing from their last 3 albums. The Roots haven't been the same since "Things Fall Apart".
Being a LAKER is a privilige. Unfortunately some "Lakers" have forgotten that.

Well, as a Roots fan from the BEGINNING with Organix, i can honestly say their last two albums have been very average.  HOwever, this album, after MANY listens(like 50) is incredible, its not as aggresive an album as normal, more melancholy at times. However, if you give it a chance it will really grow on you.

BEST SONGS:

Long Time(one of my favourites of the year, even if it does have Peedi Peedi on it..........great production)

Clock With No Hands

Can't Stop this (Tribute to Jay Dee)

In the Music (one of the three tracks ft. ex-Roots member Malik B)

I haven't even bought the last two, but i'm definitely getting this one

Co-sign.  #3 on my list.  Shit is consistent and I can listen through the whole thing.

Yea, damn good album. I didnt like it on the first couple listens, but then I started to notice how everything was put together and its damn genius, plus its some of Black Thought's best work of his career lyrically.

I'd give the album a 3/5, Don't Feel Right is a banger but something has been missing from their last 3 albums. The Roots haven't been the same since "Things Fall Apart".

Give the album a couple more listens, like someone else said it really grows on you.  In the age of the internet where we can get music with ease, i find i never really give albums time to really appreciate them.  I gave this one a real chance and now i can't stop bumping it..........

Wow, Black THought is incredible on this cd, he is by far the most underrated mc of all time.

For those of you who normally sleep on the Roots, you don't wanna miss this cd.  It keeps getting better with every listen, you can bump it from front to back and its been awhile since i could say that.  Their last cd was average, the one before was below average, but to me this is THE CD OF THE YEAR.  I am still shocked how good it is, i love when something actually exceeds your expectations, it just doesn't seem to happen in hiphop anymore.

Sikotic, In the Music is incredible, maybe the standout track.  My favourite keeps changing, I'm also REALLY feeling Long TIme and Can't Stop this, these tracks really bring back that classic 95-96 feel for me, this seems to be the highest quality hiphop put out this year, a real breathe of fresh air........
