Dubcnn Presents: A New Venture - "Entertainment" - October 5, 2006 By : Rud

Dubcnn have been steadily working behind the scenes to increase the content we can supply to our readers. As we recently announced, our forum has taken steps to increase the outlets for people to discuss the various areas of Entertainment including Television, Movies and Gaming.

Dubcnn have been putting in place the steps that will enable us to cover more content, increase visitors and thus increase the coverage and readership that the news, interviews and music we focus on receives.

With that in mind we are proud to reveal the first in our new ventures - in conjuction with Universal Pictures - Movie Reviews, premiere coverage and interviews.

To start off this new venture we have our Movie Review of the latest Oliver Stone movie starring Nicolas Cage; "World Trade Center" - the premiere of which dubcnn attended. The review created the "Dub Quotable": The movie succeeds in quickly re-creating the high tension that must have gripped all those in New York and follows through right to the films conclusion of just over two hours."

As this new Entertainment section grows we will be asking you to bookmark that section to keep up to date with new content so this news section is devoted to the music and the material we cover day-to-day. Until then, read the review by clicking the link below and add our new Entertainment Index to your browsing experience.

Dubcnn: World Trade Center (Movie Review)

bad venture to try to branch out to....seriously i doubt people will look out for this unless your going to only review westcoast movies or something along the music lines....people look at dubcc for music reviews, not for movie reviews....thats just my opinion....as u can see you got no replies from anyone all day, that should tell you something, but hey, if its making u money, go ahead and keep doing it untill the checks stop coming

It's not a bad idea, you just need the right people to do it.  The review itself isn't well-written....with so many adverbs and grammatical errors, it came off like a highschool book report.  Furthermore, nobody's even checking for that movie right now...the writer says the movie "needs to be seen at the Theatres to truly experience it to it's fullest potential," but it's ranked 36th at the box office, and long gone from most theaters.

Just saying, it's a good idea if done right.  But people aren't going to take it seriously if the presentation doesn't improve off that first effort.

Trauma-san

I didn't like the review.  HORRIBLE movie to review, anyways.  I'm not sure that the reviewer was an American, and if he's not, he doesn't really have any place saying that the movie recreates what it was like to be in new york that day.  Second, it wasn't very well written and the guy made sure to distance himself from what he calls 'fanatacism' and 'american propoganda' which in my opinion is the mark of an amateur mind, since he doesn't see the context of the film and instead wants to make sure nobody lumps him in as agreeing with what's presented there.  Finally, there was no way to contact the guy so I could tell him personally what a shitty review he did.

So, I would change all of that.  Plus, if it were me, I would stay away from politically charged movies like that, because you're a music site and politics and music do not mix.  Review the new Jet Li movie or something.
