Without good sales, your favorite artists will get dropped from their labels, won't get as much promotion, won't get big name producers, lackluster studio equipment, etc.

It's a business, you have to sell.  When you sell, you get more opportunities and funding to ensure another good product next time around.

If Snoop does come out the same day as Jay, I don't think it will hurt his sales a whole lot....because they still have two different fanbases. I'd say only 20-30% of the people who'd buy Jay's album would buy Snoop's. And at the same time....some people may be goin to the store to get Jay, then they see Snoop next to it, and it's like damn.......I guess I'll get both.
