Is it possible to get an Xbox 360 modded?

Paying $55 for a game is really hurting me....i was wondering if there are mod chips out for the 360

i also heard that modding gets u banned from Xbox Live... is that true?

are there any boot discs for the 360 that will let me play using back ups and not get me banned from Live (obviously i wont try playing online with the backups)

long answer. .yes a dvd drive hack exists to play copies.. but not homebrew stuff yet..

Actually you can. One of my buddies at work has his modded, so u can play burnt games on the system and as of now the burnt games even work on xboxlive!
i was browsing the classifieds yesturday and noticed a guy advertising for installing modchips and stuff.

-Firmware Flash $50

*Firmware flash allows you to play backups on your Xbox 360. There is no need to swap disc's to boot the game its direct boot just like the ps2 or xbox 1. This is also Xbox Live safe so you can play originals or backups online.*

Make sure your dvd drive looks like this (turn on x360 and eject the tray)

thats his add,however i think u have to download the games urself from the net then burn it onto a dual layer disc ,i think thats how it works not sure though,im thinkin about doing this as it would save alot of money but im thinkin if microsoft releases a patch or sumthin then i could be fucked,i dunno,im gonna prolly call the guy within the next few days,ill post if  i find anything new..

What exactly is Xbox Live? Does it work in the States only? Is it free? How can i connect to internet with the Xbox?
Oh, and i've seen on torrent there are a lot of XBOX 360 games... so i guess you can burn them and play them?

Its works in other countries, but I don't know which ones. Xbox Live Silver is free, you have to pay for gold. You can pretty much do everything with silver EXCEPT for play games online, and people with the gold membership get a few exclusive offers for random things every now and then. You need a high speed internet connection for xbox live.

yup microsoft has got online console gaming on lock,dont think sony or nintendo will be able to match xboxlive

I'd be real careful about using a modded 360 on XBL.  If you have any files saved that are modded or anything like that, it's a real possibility that you can get banned.  I know Bungie has been handing out permanent bans for that stuff...

downloading and burning wont be an issue...there are planty of places u can rapidshare links for 360 games....and buying a DL DVD and downloading and burning a game turns out to be much cheaper....my only fear is...I DONT WANT TO BE BANNED FROM XBOX LIVE....because i heard that they ban ur serail numbe and there's no way around that....could u play backups on xbox 1 without getting banned?

btw, i have a premium 360...will i have free Xbox Live Silver for life or for a month or summ and can i download demos, patches and stuff with silver?

na dude i think with silver u can only go online and chat with people and play games (not sure about the games part tbh) but to download ish u need to have Gold..

about the modding, i personally wouldnt fuck with it, 1, if it fucks up the 360 is an expensive machine to replace and 2, if you get banned from Xbox Live that would be a kick in the nuts big time and im pretty sure it would be lifetime ban.

na i just checked on the website....downloads are available on silver but only a while after theyre available for gold...probably u'll be able to download demos once the game is out in he market lol

There would be no point to get the gold subscription if you could play online with silver. You will be able to play Phantasy Star Universe online if you have silver, but thats only because you have to pay $9 a month specifically for that game.

yea silver and gold have pretty much the same featuers only difference is with GOLD u can play online . Silver u can download patches,vids,demos and everything u just CANT play online
