I love the west... but I'll listen to East a lot too.... but they really don't bring what I want... to me the East is all about Intellect and smarts... when the west is about fun, good times... and struggle... my opinion

I love all kinds of music and I don't give a shit where it's from if it's good.  But I do understand the point about this being a westcoast forum.  Then again it's really more of a "gangsta rap" forum because there are shitloads of westcoast rap artists whose names I never see up in here.  If you want to learn about underground hip hop and east coast artists, the best place to go is sohh.  If you want to talk g-funk or gangsta rap, this is the place.

I own more east coast albums. I think the east coast puts out better music. I think the east coast has more classic albums then the the west coast. However, I find myself listening to them both equally, and some of my fav albums EVER come from the west coast. All Eyez On Me, i.e., is one of my top 10 fav albums ever made.

This thread is interesting coz it shows many aspects of the Rap world now in effect: heads STILL wanna differentiate between East and West and/or create ANOTHER section on this forum. I take this shit personally even though I "understand" it, coz I'm one very outspoken East Coast head on a West Coast forum, but guess what: I CANNOT stand most of those other forums. I signed on sohh.com but I scarcely go there (even though most cats rip East Coast and shit over there).
I see it like this: I own many more East Coast CDs than West Coast; yet, not too many gangsta rap fans love Pac, Dre, Cube, Snoop and others the way I do. My favorite CDs EVER (besides my 2Pac collection) are "Chronic", "Doggystyle" and "2001". Still, I have MUCH MORE knowledge of New York's underground AND mainstream Rap scene coz I live in NY and love my rugged, Mobb Deep, Gangstarr shit. In other words, I don't see the need to bring even more separation when ONE forum out of many on the net, can have heads argue about Jay-Z and Nas OR compare Last Meal to Top Dogg, especially when Rap artists show us the proper way to do things (Dre collaborates with Eve, Busta and Bilal while Dilated Peoples features Alchemist and Primo on their joint).
The truth of the matter is Hip Hop is ONE BIG family nowadays, or tries hard to be anyway. More separatism couldn't even bring one REAL topic to be discussed coz how would straight West Coast fans on this forum talk about, let's say, a Rakim/Dre collabo? In clear, in what kind of forum would such a collabo belong???? The answer is, it should belong to ANY interesting rap forum like WCC, willing and able to expand beyond its original intended borders (hopefully). That's real...
PS: Y'all can check my reviews: I have Rage, Prodigy, LL, The Wash, Blueprint, AZ, Scarface, Pete Rock & CL Smooth on there and more to come. I'm INTERNATIONAL... Just like Hip Hop...

;D

hell.... i listen to biggie and pete rock & cl as much, if not more than a lot of other west coast artists... why?.. coz its good shit. still i'm heavily biased towards checkin out new talent and releases from the west because thats where my heart is at.

we gotta throw a bit of everything in the mix (ok..but sometimes we get a little too much)

how can we honestly stand up and say "west is best" if we don't know what else is out there?
