The sad thing is there are some legends in that list who have not sold anywhere near what they should have.
Keep in mind a lot of those albums were mainly sold in mom-&-pop shops (meaning no soundscan).
Run DMC has King of Rock certified at platinum and Raising Hell at 3X according to the RIAA website.P.S. Mom and Pop stores may not have soundscan, but the record companies know how many albums they ship and they keep track of what is sold to an extreme so they can re-ship if need be. I never bought the theories that rap albums in the 90s were selling double what soundscan said they sold. Claims that Chronic sold 8 million or what have you don't fly with me. The record companies would make sure numbers that high were reported and they'd know if they even shipped that many albums. I do believe that over 8 million people have chronic if you count tape dubs and downloads.
