Dubcnn Presents: The Best Of 2006 (in different categories)
« on: January 02, 2007, 01:59:09 PM »
http://www.dubcnn.com/features/editorials/bestof2006/newindex.html

2006 was a busy year in Hip-Hop, a lot of new artists coming up, veterans coming back, banging beats and useless beefs. With the year coming to a close, we at dubcnn decided to compile a "Best Of" feature for our readers.

After intense debate in the office we opted to go for a collection of the best in various categories rather than singling out individuals. This has resulted in what we see as a concise appraisal of artists and material that have featured in 2006. To check dubcnn's Best Of 2006, click below:

Dubcnn's Best Of 2006

Please be aware that the views and selections expressed in this "Best Of" feature are not necessarily the views of all but are by majority vote. As ever there are copious albums and artists that we had to miss off due to the restrictive number of categories and selections within each. Also please note that images shown do not represent a 'favourite' or 'winner'.

Happy new year everybody!

props, interesting, but terribly predictable. Not one entry that surprised me, very mainstream, played it safe with this one.

I guess a best of statstic is supposed to reflect what happened throughout the year... not really surprise anyone. i feel you though, this is not my PERSONAL best of, or anybodys, SGV came up with the idea and started it, and we built around it, you can't really be too unpredictable with these..

Very nice list.

I like this quote:

Quote
Did 2006 give you "The Inspiration" to decide if "Hip Hop Is Dead"? Could you tell the "King" from the "Doctor's Advocate" or were you too busy rolling out the "Blue Carpet"? Whatever happened this year we can guarantee these releases played some part in your soundtrack to 2006.

Dope. I do think it is predictable because their are not as many dope releases in 2006 than other years. So many people are in agreement that these records are the best. You can go to almost any site with a awards section and it will be like that. The only one I did not see for indie album or slept on is The Product. That was a dope record that alot of cats even in the south do not mention. Ray Cash also.

thank you. ray cash's cd is soooo dope. I was shocked by it. he is very talented. I can't wait for his next record, especially if it's nearly as good as his 1st 1 was. I didn't hear the product.

The Product was bangin. It ain't nothin like what has been coming out of the south the last few years. Scarface put the group out, it is with Will Hen and Malice. Will is from Northern Cali, Malice from Mississippi and Face doing raps and beats.

Nice list... But i would like to see u givin some props to San Quinn for releasin "The Rock". This album is bangin from start to finnish, and what i like about this album is that he went down and recorded a real fucking good album, without tryin to do "radio friendly" songs, and without tryin to lean on a guestlist from bigger artists. This kind of albums is kinda rare nowadays...

"San Quinn - The Rock" gets an honorable mention from me at least!  :)

Pretty solid list, however IMO you guys missed the boat and picked the WRONG E-40 song for that list.  "U and dat" hook by T-Pain shits on the "Tell me when to go"...."U and dat" was all over the radio and a funny fucking Amp'd Mobile commercial, and it couldn't make the list?  SMH

We were thinking of making a Ringtone Of The Year section and we had that in there, but then we scrapped that section..

still though, the hook on "U and dat" is definately top 5...."Tell me when to go" might have garnered more attention, but "U and Dat" is much better in terms of hooks
