Yeah he's much better, the numbers speak for themselves.

yeah at hitting homers but hits themselves there is no question.

pete rose 23 seasons 14053 ABs 4256 Hs .303 avg during those 23 years is pretty fuckin impressive
Bonds 20 seasons 9507 ABs 2841 Hs .299 avg.  Though Rose had 4500 more at bats, Bonds would need another 1500 hits to surpass Rose which means Bonds would have to hit a lil more than .300 don't let those Homeruns confuse into believing Bonds is a better hitter than Rose.

may i add, Rose never used Roids or any other drugs.  And don't bring up Rose gambling on baseball because that in no way improved his performace.

OBP and SLG > BA

We can just take a look at the statsbefore Bonds 1999 season and still point out how much better Bonds is, which is the season those sports reporters that wrote Game of Shadows said he started juicing

Career best before 1999 for Bonds

336/458/677 for a 1.135 OPS which was  .399 OPS points above the league average in 1993.  Throughout the entire 1990s, Bonds would at least reach a .923 OPS, and over 1.000 for 8 seasons.

Career best for Pete Rose

348/428/512 for a .940 OPS and was .211 OPS points above the league average in 1969.  That was Rose's best, which was on par with Barry Bonds' worst years in the 1990s.

If you want to see Pete Rose was a better contact hitter through most of his years than Bonds, ok that's cool and even debatable but not a better hitter.

i say better hitter as a contact hitter Rose>Bonds but like i said as for slugging/homers of course it's Bonds, though i think Henry Aaron is better.

Of course Rose is a better contact hitter than Bonds. I'd still take Barry as the better overall player.

Also, Aaron still has a few thousand more at bats than Bonds so despite Steroid use Aaron still had way more chances though. Doesn't matter because Ruth is the best slugger in history and it's hard to deny that. 4000 more at bats for Aaron and only 40 more homeruns. When Asaron had reached the total number of at bats Ruth had Aaron wasn't even at 500 HRs. And don't give that Ruth didn't hit against black pitchers crap like many do because Aaron only hit against one or two great black pitchers and it was once in a blue moon. To this day the number of black pitchers is only like 3% of pitchers, and I think it peaked a 6% in the early 80s. Now I'm not saying there may not have been a slugger in the negroe leagues that could beat Ruth. Who knows maybe there was, but no way was Aaron a better homerun hitter.

And, I wouldn't be shocked if Rose juiced up a bit in the 80s at the end of his run. It was the thing to do.

Homerun hitters for me goes like this Ruth>Aaron>>Bonds

as for Rose juicing up, same could be said for anyone who ever played the game, the only difference between Rose and Bonds on that one is, Bonds admitted to unknowingly taking Roids and now test positive in this test and Rose has never been accused of doing so.

I just assume that the majority of athletes in every athletic sport juice up in some way. Most don't do it to cheat. They do it because they know others do it and they want to level the playing field. So until technology gets to the point were you can instantly test every drug at once and see the results right away, and the leagues get serious about coming down on steroid use, you will see it everywhere.

cuz like I said before, to me no matter who did it they're a bitch, even my favorite player.... so pretty much MLB = wack

yeah hes a bitch for doing steroids, but he is on my favorite team and when he comes up to bat im not gonna root for the guy to strikeout, and you wouldnt either, and you know it..

I don't think anybody on here should compare Pete Rose to Barry Bonds

simply because nobody ever saw him play

you can still compare the 2, stats in Baseball tell alot.  I didnt watch Willie Mays play, but all you have to do is listen to Joe Morgan or Peter Gammons or any other people his age to know he was the best, Im sorry Bonds is WAY better than Pete Rose and that I know homie.

I didn't say Rose was better

my point is they played in seperate times, were different types of hitters, nobody here ever saw anything but Rose highlights

so to compare them as baseball players in a discussion with a bunch of people under 25, it's not legit

it goes nowhere, notice the last few pages are the same shit:  no he isn't, yes he is, no he isn't, yes he is

and this isn't somebody like Joe Morgan talking about it, it's a bunch of young kids

Real talk, but you dont have too see someone play to know they are great. I never saw Sweetness play really, but i know how great he was
