Ryan Howard Gets 1 yr 900 K Contract

Wow thats all this guy is getting paid this year? He signed a 1 yr 900 K contract. Its more then last year, but this could turn out to be the biggest contract steal of all time. I thought Frank Thomas last year was a steal, but this is absurd.

he's gonna get paid eventually but 900k for 60 HR is definitely a steal, the Phils gonna be a problem this year

he wasn't eligible for arbitration this year

they were trying to talk out a long-term deal but couldn't agree upon anything as of yet; so the Phillies renewed his contract

same thing had to Pujols, who also made $900,000 and then eventually got a 7-yr, $100 million dollar deal
so Howard will also eventually get a deal worth around that much

definitely a big steal for Philly though

This pretty much happens to every young superstar.  Even if he was arbitration eligible he wouldn't be getting his FA worth.  It took Zambrano a few years to get up to 12.5 a year.
