Soopafly & Devin The Dude Album Reviews - March 24, 2007 By : Rud

Today we have two exclusive new reviews from Dubcnn's Eddie Gurrola. Last month Soopafly released his highly anticpated sophomore album "Bangin' Westcoast" however not in the format most fans were expecting.

The download only LP received a mixed reception however most seem in agreement that after a long drought of Soopafly material, any format was a welcome arrival. Eddie takes the album to task over whether you should spend the money and get the download.

"Bangin' Westcoast" received the Dub Quotable: "This overdue return falls a bit short of its full potential, but will satisfy those fans desperate to bang Soopa's re-imagined West Coast." The full review can be read below.

The second album review of the day is Devin The Dude's long awaited fourth solo effort. "Waitin' To Inhale" has been in production for some time now and Eddie sets out to discover if the finished product has been worth the wait. Hitting stores this week, March 20, the album has been riding the success of two singles "Lil Girl Gone" and the Snoop Dogg and Andre 3000 featured "What A Job."

"Waitin' To Inhale" earns the Dub Quotable; "Impressively, The Dude continues to grow, delivering his most consistent work on fourth outing, 'Waiting To Inhale'" as well as a highly respectable Dub Rating. Check the link below to read the full review.

props for these, good reads. I totally agree on soopa's album being a 3/5. I felt like Devin's was more of a 3.5 then 4 but it's all good. Both are quality releases. Good job on the reviews

I'm sure you'll check this thread first, but I said the same thing in the other thread.

Quote
He falters again on “Cutcha Up,” sounding creepy as he attempts to resist the temptation of committing statutory rape. Fans of Devin’s humor will be laughing out loud, but others not akin to his style may be shocked.

This isn't factually correct. The song is about a growing weed plant that isn't ready to be smoked yet. The video he made for the song explained it.

Pretty good review otherwise.

I must say that I was disappointed by 'Bangin' Westcoast'. I expected smooth and odd beats like the ones on 'Dat Woopty Woop'. The production on 'Bangin' Westcoast' didn't come close. It wasn't properly mastered all over either, especially the track with Tha Dogg Pound and Damani. 2.5/5 at best to me, but then I'm more of a beat and flow-fan then a fiend for good lyrics.

Yeah I agree with the reviews for the most part. "Crazy" on Soopafly's album was my joint though... that track goes hard!
