Aren't there millions of people in CA? Wouldn't west coast artists do better to market to other californians rather than trying to keep up with some national trend? Don't alot of east coast cats go gold and plat just from the east coast? Cats i've never heard of come up with platinum numbers sometimes man. what would the flaw in such a strategy be?-T

It always has to sound like Doggystyle or AMW or something else.

Nobody. the fans ain't dumb. where's johnny j in this motherfucker? his shit was hot.-T

You can't win with some "supposed" west coast fans. If it sounds like some old stuff, there is no growth, if it is new, the artists abandoning his roots. Think I'm lying? Check out the forum. Got these artists so confused they don't know what in the fuck to put out.

Do people really realize how many people Snoop has worked with? If he worked with everyone we want he might as well put out a compilation instead. We don't allow growth and we don't allow change. It's a lose lose with most people. But you come back in a few months and the same people actually listen to the album and love it. Dre did not want to work with Snoop until his Aftermath album flopped. Once he realized people still liked their music together did he do it. Snoop it the meantime ain't gonna wait hand and foot on Dre so he found new producers. And that is why Snoop is not afraid to try new things, whether people like it or not. He ain't waiting on Dre to get shit done, you see what waiting has done for the career of many artists on Aftermath. Try to have a open ear to some new shit. That is what people need to try to do.

That is what people need to try to do.the aftermath album went platinum for one thing. i don't think that was as much of a dissappointment as say the firm (frankly, they acted like it was a nas/dre album and if it was it woulda done multi plat, but fuckin fox brown had more dre production than nas on that bitch. once the streets heard it, there was only the million cats who didn't know that yet/wanted as much dre/nas as they could get anyway that copped it) going only platinum.anyway, I think dre would have worked with snoop again anyway. he just needed to do other stuff as well. didn't they do 'zoom' like in 96?but otherwise yeah i feel you.fuckin' crooked. frankly that was DR's fault.I think crooked is waiting for detox to shine the light on the west coast again, he was on DR when 2001 came out. 'say dr.dre' implies that crooked may be on detox. if this is so, he can pull a SIAM or a restless or whatever and ride on dre's coattails for a Gold plaque.-T
Crooked I not coming out back in the day was a real letdown for the west. He was lyrical, new and used different producers then any of his peers. It was a new sound. I don't know if west coast fans will embrace a new dope sound from a new producer at this point. Game does not count to me because of the Dre influence. We will support a Dr. Dre endorsed artist still to this day. If he actually puts them out.
