HELP with PC if anyone could

Years ago, I bought a computer that came with windows XP installed aready and the product key code on the CPU. A while later, I needed to format and did not have the XP disc and my friend installed a pretty good counterfeit version of XP on my PC that I've been using for a long time. in the last few months, windows has sent all kinds of validation shit via internet and now my computer keeps telling me I have a counterfeit copy blah blah blah....I called the people I bought it from for the disc and they said they can't help me. My friend that installed the counterfeit version says I have to purchase a new copy of XP.

Two things

a) The validator shit keeps asking me if I wanna do something about the CF copy...will anything happen if I don't? It gives me "do something now, do something later" option but it hasn't said anything like "if you don't do this in XXX amount of days your copy will cease to work" or anything like that but I get the feeling that the rug will be pulled from under me in not too long from now...

b)does anyone know any alternatives I have to buying a new copy of windowsXP?

Go to 'Automatic Updates' within control panel, choose 'Download updates for me, but let me choose when to install them."

When it does download and ask, click the window and choose custom. If there is an install for the 'Genuine Advantage Tool' that's the program that checks validation so uncheck the box.

That will skip windows xp validation.

on a similar note, for MONTHS when I try to use windows media player, a 'validate' screen comes up since my XP is fraud. so i can't use WMP, will the above solution you gave me solve this problem as well?

Nah homie, i got a legal xp cuz i bought a new computer. Otherwise i wouldve never bought a legal version of windows. You should check the site a gave you. Its not that difficult, just try it. And you should only get vista if you got a good computer.

I have a product key code...but I don't have a disc....does anyone know of a way I can use the code to fix the problems i'm having?
