Why The Neptunes Can Be Bad For An Artist's Career

Listening to my radio, every other song that is played, "Knock Yourself Out," "Candy," "Please Don't Mind" etc is a Neptunes beat.  Now, with a lot of artists seaking to hook up with these guys this can lead to problems...  

If a lot of artists have a Neptunes beat than how can a new group establish an original sound?  I mean, a lof of new up and coming artists are getting Neptune production.  Since alot of Neptune songs are similar, how can an artist be creative if they end up having the same sound??!!  I read in a magazine artists are aiming for a "flavor of the month," not their own sound by chasing after whatever producers are hot at the moment.  What's the point of getting the hottest beat just like any other artist when these a dozen more with the same beat practically.

Rappers should stick with A producer to build a creative and original sound.  Someone like that is a Dr. Dre.

It isn't as bad for Cube, because we know his style.  Maybe he wants something fresh, or another hit.  I think The Neptunes are more "hit makers" than real producers.

I think the things you were stating about the upcoming new artists makes sense, I mean when u first hit the scene u should want 2 establish yourself as original & fresh, but with something that sounds like something that came out the previous week it won't work 4 your status. I think the case with the Neptunes is that now everybody's lining up 2 work with them they jus' don't seem 2 care 4 the music anymore, they jus' seem 2 b looking out 4 the affiliation with that certain artist & the money. When they first surfaced though I must admit I did find some of their material pretty tight, & I thought that song they did as N.E.R.D was bangin'. The quality has some what faded recently though

Yeah, The Neptunes prolly don't give a dam, they are gettin paid, and their beats are being played.  I mean, one artists can get almost any producer, (with $$), so you can pay The Neptunes for 10 songs and they'll do it.  What about the next album?  What if you don't get the Neptunes?  Then some may say that artist isn't as tight.

I like albums that are guided by one producers e.i. "The Chronic" & "Doggystyle."

Another thing, Neptunes have only made party beats so far.  They've failed to be more diverse with laid back songs and other types.
