What The Fuck Is Wrong With Xzibit's Full Circle Album???
« on: May 05, 2007, 05:25:43 PM »
I see alot of people talking down on this album, and after giving it another spin just now, i still fail to see why. I know alot of people credit production as a problem, but how can anyone hate on the beats on rollin, say it to my face, poppin off etc. The only tracks were I ain't feelin the beat is the whole world, concentrate, movin in your chucks & ram part division, but the idea of ram part division is so brilliant, it's tough to hate on.

Jelly Roll first off did a fantastic job with the 2 opening tracks, perfect way to start off a album. There's some cool mainstream cuts on there like Concentrate (although i dis-like it, i see were it fits in) along with on bail and then you got your meaningful songs like thank you, black & brown, and a minute to pray (if you got the bonus tracks). Then ofcourse the earlier mentioned cool idea with ram part division, and even X's storytelling on Scandolous Bitch is cool. X sounds dope as fuck on say it to my face, and poppin off is a dope west coast cut as well. Family Values is a nice track.

Only tracks I don't bump is concentrate, the whole world and movin in your chucks.

Also if you got the bonus tracks, San Quinn spits a nice verse on the concentrate remix.

I honestly think the reason this album gets hated on, is ppl didn't give it a chance because of the weak single, or ppl made there mind up that the album "was wack" before even listening to it, because of the weak single.

Leave ya thoughts ;)

The whole album is really awful. Theirs no energy in X's voice, the beats are OK, the overall production is pretty bad, the concepts of the tracks is very poor, no unifying idea of the album. Compared to Restless or MvM or even WOMD, this is a very poorly done album from front to back.

I thought Quik feel off, but Xzibit feel off almost worse then DPG.

"Thank you" is probably the worst piece of trash ever recorded. Sounds like a sappy intro to a after school special. You can tell hes trying to hard to make a meaningful song, its really bad when artists try to hard and come up with nothing.

Listen to the energy in X's voice in say it to my face. Granted that is 1 example i am providing only (doin this off the top)

The concept of the tracks is very poor??? I think this album ranks 1st or 2nd on the list, when it comes to the quality AND quanity of tracks that have meaning to them. Ram Part Division is a very cool idea, Scandolous Bitch does a good job showcasing X's storytelling ability (even if it's bout a bitch), Family Values is a nice track for the ladies, Black & Brown is good for obvious reasons, and A Minute To Pray is also great.

Restless, WOMD, MVM are all great albums, probably a bit better then this 1 in my book, but Restless is my fav. X album, and WOMD contests for 2nd.

WOW AT THANK YOU :o :o :o

I'm usually down for agreeing to dis-agree but most certainly not in this case. From my understanding your beef is with the production on the song, I think it's extremely clear that the beat is the way it is, so the song 100% focuses on the lyrics of the song. Why lace a track with such great lyrics & meaning, with a beat that may draw attention away from the verses??? Easily 1 of X's greatest songs EVER

I didn't care for most of the beats, and I agree that his flow and voice were really off on a couple of songs. I wouldn't say it's the worst Xzibit album, but far from one of his best, and I didn't think it was very good overall.

I liked "On Bail" and "Thank You" but those were pretty much the only 2 I still would listen too.

I thought this was a real solid album. Yeah, not X's best, but I like how he kept it West Coast.  Better than WOMD IMO too.  There's no reason why this CD was hated on in the first place, people should be grateful that we got an album this tight in this day and age.  How people can sleep on tracks like "Rollin," "Ram Part Divison," and "Scandolous Bitch" are beyond me.

Ain't gonna argue the production, i've made it clear on where I stand there. I wouldn't say it's X's worst album, because there ALL dope, but this 1 is probably last on my list, or 2nd last. Same situation for me as Cube's catalog, all dope albums, but 1 of them ain't as good as the rest

I love WOMD, probably my 2nd fav. X album. Another album that I still wonder why is hated on, but that's a thread for another day

I love Rollin. The other 2 are also amazing, but for me i'd replace them with say it to my face & poppin off. Thank you as well ofcourse

I listened to the album once and really didn't feel the urge to listen to it again. The beats are lackluster, and X raps like it's just a hobby to him. Plus, the first single was annoying as hell. It just seemed to me that the whole album was more or less just thrown together. Full Circle was a huge disappointment following up WOMD.

Say It To My Face kicks ass too 8)  Poppin Off is dope too, it sounds a little weak to me though, it needs to hit harder or something, the sound, like the actual sound, sounds a bit flat or something.

exactly why I said I had a feeling ppl hated on it :D

I understand there's other reasons why you dis-liked it (you stated them) but like I said, I think it's just in our nature, to set ourselves up in a posistion to make our mind up to hate the album, if the single(s) are wack

I love WOMD, and it is better then Full Circle, but far from a disapointment IMO.

This seemed to be the consensus; I have been waiting for someone to speak up about the Sly Boogy track “Walk with My Dogs,” but no one has, so here it is.  Check it out, and let me know if you still think Xzibit and Quik were original with Rampart Division.

http://www.sendspace.com/file/fmpu7t

Xzibit is not struggling to get by; he now has money and other legitimate forms of income, consequently I think that the level of hunger and his presence on the microphone have decreased.  At the Speed of Life and 40 Dayz and 40 Nightz receive regular play from me, but I think that Restless was the first album where Xzibit had really “made it,” and it was the downfall of his style that I enjoy.  I do not listen to anything post-Restless because if I want to hear Xzibit, I want to feel that raw energy in his first two albums.
