fisher is the perfect solution, he should never have left in the first place

1. he knows the system
2. he's a relyable point guard, who knows hwo to work with kobe
3. he provides much needed leadership, and experience.

what more could you ask for for 16 mil?

I don't understand y'all. We desperately need a point guard who can run the triangle and who can be a good teacher for our three young reserves (Vujacic is 23, Farmar is 21 and Crittenton is still 19), and Fisher has all those qualities we need. He's a veteran, he got a big paycut (he lost $ 21 millions, leaving Utah), he's a friend of Kobe, he can defend, he knows triangle and he has Playoff experience. Shit, he's perfect. He's def better than Steve Blake, if you ask me. Plus i'm confident in Crittenton: he'll shine in 1-2 years.

Forreal. And once you consider that Smush Parker was our starting PG for the last 2 years, I'd think everyone would be jumping for joy. Glad to have him back.

Now, dump Odom and get me Gasol...the one in Memphis!

This move is getting hated on hard on Clublakers, but I like the move for the most part. I'm not thrilled with the dollar amount, it should be for something like 2 years 7 mil with a team option for a 3rd, but ehh...

He provides some stability, and he won't cower under Kobe's massive ego like everyone else on the team. He will also be able to mentor our young point guards and he's clutch as hell in the playoffs. Who besides me would have rather had Derek Fisher as our starting point guard instead of Smush Parker the last 2 years? We probably would have gotten past Phoenix in '06 if that was the case.

Yeah, he's past his prime, but this is a big upgrade from Smush.

FISHER?? DID HE EVEN START OVER THERE AT UTAH??

fisher sucks, and hes well over paid for that amount you laker fans sure know how to POLISH A TURD

lakers should honestly let go of kobe that organization doesnt know what the hell they are doing, they need to add another star player for kobe everyone knows this instead they go out and get Fisher?? and LOL! at 5th seed try the bottom tier

kobe cant do it all with a bunch of CBA players, and bench warmers
odoms the only legitamate player , rest of the players are garbage

You must not have seen Smush and Sasha play last season. It was enough to make any Laker fan turn suicidal.

Yeah, Fisher is not a star, he's past his prime, but he knows how to play and he's a winner.

Also, getting star players isn't as easy as snapping your fingers. When Kobe got PMS and went on his bitchfest, it ruined any leverage the Lakers had for making trades. Other GM's know we're in a bind and they will try to rake us over the coals. Also, our only realistic trade bait right now is Odom and Bynum, and possibly Kwame Brown's expiring K. That is all we have to work with. You comapre that with another team, like the Bulls, who have a ton of young talent and you see what kind of position we're in.

If we dump Odom and Bynum for Jermaine O'neal, it's basically a lateral move. JO is injury prone and costs 20 mil per for the next 3 years. KG? Forget it, now happening. Artest? Yeah sure, the Maloofs will deal with us. Not to mention Artest has destroyed every team he's been on. So what star player are we supposed to just have appear out of thin air?

Exactly.

What we need are role players who know what the fuck they're doing. Fisher is a start, but obviously more moves need to be made. The Laker FO needs to look at the smaller moves instead of making expensive lateral moves to appease The Whiner.

^ Gasol nigga! He wants out of Memphis, him and Kobe just had a discussion about how disgruntled they are with their organizations, and he's affordable (him for Odom would work but we would have to throw in probably a draft pick or Farmar or somethin).

^^^^ Gasol ain't going nowhere... especially if  Memphis has to bring his good friend Navarro ... I agree with Juronimo to a certain extent but then again our option are limited when it comes to bring role players i.e the vet min..

Sorry but this whole post is pretty ignorant. First of all, he has started in 365 regular season games and 82 playoff games, just to let you know. And yes, he was a starter over there in Utah last season. Not only he has started quite a few times in his career (even tho he has always been used as the backup point guard who played more minutes than the starter, you know.. Remember your man Gary Payton? He was on the bench in the clutch moments, with Fisher playing instead of him..), but he was been a co-captain of a team too, and he'll be a co-captain for the Lakers too. But that's not the point: the point is that, since we already have 3 young point guards, we had to sign a veteran player who could teach our young guys how to defend, how to lead a team, how to have that killer instinct we missed in the last two seasons (and i think you remember him being clutch a couple of times during the playoff..). He's the guy we were looking for. Plus he knows triangle very well, and he's a personal friend of Kobe. What can you ask more? Well, being you a Heat fan i think you shouldn't even really care. I'm happy about him coming back. That's enought.

I agree, Gasol ain't going nowhere. Memphis is trying to build around him as we speak. No way they give him up at this point.

Tell me, genius, who was better that was available for the MLE? Huh? For your info, Fisher did start for Utah and had a spectacular run with them in the playoffs, playing a key role as a leader. Fisher is familiar with the triangle and won 3 rings as the starting point guard for the Lakers...Stop the hating, we can only make a big move through a trade...PeACe
