Hittman's ridiculously charismatic but

a)his rhyme schemes are more complex than what the average persob digests easily

b)he's a big dude in the post Biggie generation. Biggie was the last big rapper to blow up before it got to the point where you need a reality show, cribs appearance and constant interviews getting bitches to want you in order to sell your records. B.I.G. himself couldn't blow up in this market climate.

Did Dre appreciate the opportunity?

of course he did thats why he is all over 2001, dre got what he wanted from hittman, great lyrics.

Hittman didnt get a solo album produced by dre though which was what he prob wanted.

^Yeah, but if he had put out a Hittman solo album then he would have had another gold selling artist on his label. I think he would have definitely went gold if he put that album out in 2000 or 2001. But gold was/is probably a flop in Dre's eyes. That's why he started to look for another rapper. Someone who would go atleast platinum. And then he found 50 cent.

Hittman is far more than an ok rapper. When I was 12 and 2001 came out, I wasn't that impressed by him but now that I'm older and my ears have been cultivated by more music than before, Hittman's one of my favorite west coast MCs.

I don't know why Dre wasted so much time and promotion on Hitman.  Dude was on like 9 tracks on 2001, he wasn't on the level of t he other emcee's on the album

deep down I think dre likes good lyrical rappers, but Iovine really limits what he can do for them. Hittman was beyond alot of the MCs on 2001 imo.
