Man fuck the hell off. This nigga said lets wait for Detox. Yeah I guess the 4 year wait I went through wasn't enough. Just like this 8 year wait for Untouchable...I mean Say Hi to the Bad Guy...I mean Boss Music just isn't long enough for some cats.

I dissagre Tanji:

Nas - Hustlers ---> nice beat but same shit as Come And Go and Get Low: its just a fucking loop  :-X
Snoop: Imagine ---> dope
           Boss Life--> boring
           Round Here --> boring

Jay: Lost Ones --> nice
      30 Something --> nice but sounds like a 2001 leftover
      Trouble --> great melody but again, just a loop
      Minority Report --> boring

Dont get me wrong, sadly these are still one of the best beats in 06.

i guess it's just too subjective. i loved his TBCT work. hell, i even really liked the beats he did for Jay. and Hustlers was cool.

I ain't heard come and go yet, is the whole song out or just the clip?

and 'get low', even though I didn't like it, has some nice layers on it. I didn't think it was THAT simple. and sometimes simple is good.

Exactly. T hit it right on the head. It is subjective. T liked them, Timbo did not. Just like a host of other people. We could be here all day arguing who is right or wrong.

His beats on TBCT showed that he's still capable of making dope music, but it doens't happen so frequently anymore.

...and LOL @ calling Dre's beats on Encore mediocre. Those were fucking garbage.

Rain Man was dome IMO. With a proper rap it would've been a cool trak.

With the beats Dre's been putting out in the last couple years I get the feeling he's searching for a direction to head with his sound. If I'm right, these tracks we've heard are just "practice". But, if I'm wrong, the Dre's just another name when it comes to beats. Among the top cats, yes, but not the supreme exalted one anymore. But I do think he's just practicing.

Mixing, though - he's still the man. He made Busta's "Been Through The Storm" what is is with his mixing.

Let's not forget the rest of the producing process besides making the beat though - he still coaches the artists on their lyrics, tells them how to flow and such. Why you think Snoop sounds so good on Round Here? And Snoop himself told us That's That Shit wouldn't have been what it was without Dre & D.O.C. giving directoins with the lyrics.

i dont think he has fallen of...he did release some 'simple' material like Hustlers/Get Low/U Aint Goin' Nowhere for young buck, but he STILL has the deep,dark beats like Nightmares/Round here/Start From Scratch/the doc's advocate leftovers. i think his work on the big bang was superb, i mean the track with nas [forgot the name] was on some real gangsta shit

He's dropped 16 beats ( retail ) in 2006 and 2007, minus the work he did on Curtis.

Get You Some ( 5\5 ) crazy melody, great drums and really dope string arrangement during the hook

How We Do It Over Here ( 4.5\5 ) grew on me like crazy because the way he flips the beat during the chorus

Cocaina ( 5\5 ) really classy production, the keys are perfect and the strings are probably Dre's most epic in recent history

Don't Get Carried Away ( 5\5 ) flawless layering and the switchup during Nas' verse makes it classic

Legend Of The Fall Offs ( 3\5 ) never really felt this beat all the way, but I respect it's creativity

Boss' Life ( 4\5 ) Dre laid down a smooth beat, perfect for Snoop's flow. kinda gets better with age...

Round Here ( 5\5 ) sick beat...the background vocal keys when Snoop goes "they want that paper out here..." are unbelievably dope

Imagine ( 3.5\5 ) mainly piano driven, fits the song perfectly, just not one of my favorite beats from Dre

Lost One ( 4\5 ) see Imagine, but this gets a higher ranking because the drums are vintage Dre...maybe his best recent drum pattern

30 Something ( 3.5\5 ) this beat has a fun vibe to it, really well rounded

Trouble ( 3.5\5 ) tight drum pattern, not crazy about the melodies but the main loop is alright...sounds like Dre's tribute to Timbaland

Minority Report ( 5\5 ) really atmospheric, insane of Dre to take the bottom piano layer out so the melody sounds like it's floating

Get Low ( 4\5 ) catchy instrumental, really thick bass & drums and a nice little chord change towards the end

Hustlers ( 3.5.\5 ) not as much bounce as Get Low, but the two joints are very similar...this one bumps in its own way

Hold On ( 4.5\5 ) classy vibe to it, tremendous use of live horns and instrumentation, drums knock, chorus sounds great

U Ain't Goin Nowhere ( 4\5 ) more polished up than Imagine, beats gets a little better everytime I hear it...piano sounds great

All in all, I think he's dropped enough heat for me not to lose too much faith in his production. Still, he's not really hitting them outta the park like he used to.

he can still make dope songs, no question to me, but it's been a long time since we heard a classic ALBUM primarily produced by Dre. maybe Big bang's the closest thing
