50 Cent retirement rumours fuelled as tour scrapped

The rapper cancels his scheduled European dates

50 Cent has added fuel to the rumour he is to quit music by scrapping his previously scheduled European tour.

The rapper had previously claimed that he would quit music if his latest album, 'Curtis', was out-sold by Kanye West's new album, 'Graduation'. West's has now out-sold 'Curtis' in the UK and is expected to do the same in the US.

As well as his own European dates, 50 Cent has scrapped his scheduled performances at the forthcoming MOBO Awards and Vodafone Live Music Awards, both set to be held in London this week, due to 'unforeseen circumstances'.

Before I Self Destruct is already done.

The last album is gonna be a greatest hits.

He can pretty much "retire" right now... Yep.  and still fulfill his contract.

It was foolish for him to really believe he would be the top selling artist forever, I mean c'mon that's just impossible. What he should have done is allowed this to happen but on his own terms so it doesn't look like failure. Like I said before if he made an street directed album with no singles for clubs or cross-over radio and focused on lyrics, NY style production and minimal features he could always argue "hey, I was outsold because that record wasn't for the radio and I wasn't looking for record sales." Not only that but it probably would have renewed peoples faith in him and and sold more because everyones so sick of his typical single driven albums.

The tracks people are feeling the most on Curtis are the gutter/harder tracks like "I get money," "Fully loaded clip," "Curtis 187" and "Man down." Not to mention tracks that didn't make the album like "Smile (I'm leaving)" and "Part Time Lover" which people think are actually better than any of the retail songs. I think 50 needs to get back to that style on his next album or he really is done.
