Dogg Food would have been even better if they included "Don't Stop," "Jakkmove," and "Got My Mind Made Up."

uhh no it wouldn't, those songs are nowhere near on par w/ anything on dogg food, and they were not even recorded during the dogg food era, other than Got My Mind Made Up.

Dogg Food was originally supposed to come out in the summer of 1995 but Death Row kept pushing it back until it finally came out in October, I think the constant push back of the album killed some of the buzz off but my personal opinion is that Suge did not see the album doing more than the usual 2 million that bascially their soundtracks were doing at the time and not the numbers that a Dre, Snoop or Pac album would do so they just stopped promoting it after a couple of videos

shit Dogg Food sold 2 million? these days nobody sells that much LOL

do u think internet has somethin to do with that fact?

partly but also back then there was so much hype behind any death row album. Dogg Food followed two commercial and classic albums in Chronic and Doggystyle.

you're right; just like Chadrick said in an other topic, it's all about timing. for example the chronic, doggystyle, and the murder was the case soundtrack all had a perfect timing for a release.

Quote
With acclaim came criticism. While riding high on the commercial success of Dr. Dre and Snoop Doggy Dogg, Death Row was blasted by several activist groups and public figures in the media for its glorification of the violence associated with the gangsta rap image that most of its artists promoted. The media criticism, meanwhile, grew louder by the summer of 1995, as dissenters zeroed in on Death Row's highly publicized forthcoming release, Dogg Food — the debut release by Tha Dogg Pound. The flak made the shareholders in Interscope Records' parent company, Time Warner, nervous - so much so that the company sold all of its shares in Interscope to MCA Music Entertainment. Dogg Food, meanwhile, was postponed from its intended July release date to October.
i know, it's wikipedia, but i think this information is valid, as i've read something similar from other sources.

but 2 million is actually pretty good; maybe dogg food would sell a bit more if it was released on the perfect moment, but i doubt it would sell more than 3 million.

only needed 2 videos to go Platinum anywayz, but I agree that "Ridin' Slippin' & Slidin'" and "Smooth" should have gotten some videos as well, would have come out dope for sure... I love that album though, nothing but classic material

Don't Stop was on their 2nd Death row album
