He would get a lot more credit if he would produce outside of his circle more, and the person in his circle he should be producing a lot for (Snoop) he doesn't. It took DJ Quik forever to realize that too, thats why he started producing for Jay-Z, Young Joc, Beanie Sigel, Talib Kweli, and others we wouldn't expect him to work with.

don't think Snoop wanna pay Daz that's why I think he doesn't produce for him

hmm, I think dude's beats are average at best.

maybe now... but in a historical perspective you're waaay off. Remember Dogg Food, Murder Was The Case, All Eyez On Me, RR&GB, Gang Related, G Funk Classics? He does seem to be counting just as much as Dre on his co-producers tho. We all know his best work was with good co-producers (Soopafly, LT Hutton, Mike Dean, DJ Pooh etc)

*edit*

favourite beats are Scared Of Love and I Aint Mad At Cha

exactly his beats were tight as hell but I think one of his most underrated works was on The Gang Related Soundtrack every beat he did on that was heat Way Too Major, Lifes So Hard, Hollywood Bank Robbery, Loc'd Out Hood , Mash For Our Dreams

+1 man, I loved those beats especially Hollywwod Bank Robbery and Loc'd Out Hood!

Daz is dope but he need to get back with superfly or mike dean and re-invent a new musical style. Daz should delete all his 808 kits and reason files. step yo game up, enough of these genetic beats.

He used to be one of the best behind the boards (and he was a dope rapper too) but I feel that after Dillinger and Young Gotti, Daz got kind of lazy , and his production hasn't been very consistent (the same with his rapping). A lot of hits and misses. He was never underrated, and to tell you the truth, I feel that right now he's even OVERrated.

this is my take on it...

daz was dres prodege...

we all know that dre utilizes other musicians to achieve his sound, I think that daz kind of works best this way also...when he has some one talented to feed off he makes good work...weather it was deathrows in house musicians or soopafly or even mike dean daz was always at his best when hes not alone in the studio.

hes been on it for dolo lately and I havent felt any daz production since the DPGLP...but at one point and time he was on the verge of having his own sound but he regressed in my opinion.

He got dope beats early in his carreer but he has been very average on the boards for a long time .. Daz is the most overrated beatmaker here . y'all need to stop with this constantly DPG dickriding

Daz has produced plenty of Dope Shit.

A few great albums with some great Daz production & collaborations include:

1995 Dogg Food
1996 A few dope tracks on All Eyez on Me
1996-1998 Death Row Soundtracks, etc.
1998 Retaliation, Revenge And Getback
1999 RAW
1999 A few dope tracks on Streetz Iz A Mutha
2001 Dillinger & Young Gotti
2002 This is the Life I Lead
2005 Tha Dogg Pound Gangsta
2005 Gansta Crunk
2005 Dillinger & Young Gotti 2
2006 Same Day Different Shit
2006 A few dope tracks on So So gangsta
2007 Dogg Chit

2005 Gansta Crunk
This album gets SO MUCH HATE. I am not a fan of Crunk but I am a fan of this album.
Tons of people hate this album just because of the title .
It's funny that there are many Daz fans who won't even try this album because of the word "Crunk" LOL.
This album is stronger overall than Gangsta Party.
If you are a DAZ fan and have avoided this album just because of the title, Give It a Try.
Not his best work but I enjoyed it. "Gangsta Bitch" from this album is dope as Hell. 8)

I really love the Daz & Ivan Johnson's dark, gangsta sound you hear on Same Day and Dogg Chit.   8)

I have noticed that there are a lot of people who have decided that Daz and Kurupt have sucked since 1999.
I have also noticed that most of those same people have heard almost none of their 2000-2007 shit.

Are you saying that you thought the production was horrible on these albums?

2001 Dillinger & Young Gotti
2002 This is the Life I Lead
2005 Tha Dogg Pound Gangsta
2005 Dillinger & Young Gotti 2
2006 Same Day Different Shit
2006 So So gangsta
2007 Dogg Chit

How was 2001 Dillinger and Youg Gotti wack?

Have you listened to these albums?

Or

Have you decided they all suck because You stopped liking DPG in 1999?

 8)

(If you just dislike their music that is cool too. As a fan I'm curious.)

I would say back in 96 or so he was one of the best out there. I mean the work he put in after Dre left Death Row was exceptional.

I think with good reason and intention people expected that to continue but Daz did the indie thing for a while and he has had co producers on alot of stuff lately. Definitely far from wack on beats but outside of Same Day Different Shit his beats sound a little outdated at times. Needs a bit of a update and change on his sound like Soopafly and Fred Wreck

i dont think he gets the recognition he should for the work he did at death row.
