Question about "Ghetto Star" by Bad Azz/2Pac
« on: December 06, 2007, 02:29:34 PM »
there is an unreleased 2Pac joint (that I'm sure most of y'all heard or got from limewire) called "Ghetto Star" which has Bad Azz on it

now the released version of this song on 2Pac's album had a different beat, but no Bad Azz on it, but on Bad Azz' album it has the same beat, but no 2Pac on it

did they actually both record that track together when Pac was still alive, or is it just some mix that somebody did?

The original "Ghetto Star" is the Bad Azz/Makaveli collab. Here it is: http://www.zshare.net/audio/542726741156e2/ There's also a remix(with Makaveli's "Ghetto Star" verse) called "Ghetto Fabolous(Dr. Dre, Ras Kass, Makaveli)". The beat is the outro to the video of "Been There Done That" video. Here's this one: http://www.zshare.net/audio/542730000a8417/

I do like the the version with 2pac and Bad Azz best.

BUT......

The original featured 2pac and Nutso.

I used to think the same thing.

Both Bad Azz and Nutso have been interviewed regarding this.

The Bad Azz interview was on DUBCNN about 4 years ago.
I am sure it can be found in the archives. 8)

Here is part of a disscusion we were having about that exact track back in 8/2007 with excerpts from the DUBCNN interview by Nima. The Nutso version was on better dayz I think.

R U sure? I thought read an interview years ago where Bad azz said the version with him was the original.

dubcnn.com : There has been some controversy about your track with 2Pac called Ghetto Star. Who recorded the original version with 2Pac, you or Nuttso?

Nuttso had the song, Priority had got the song for me, I didn't know Nuttso did the song, so that's why I did it. I would have never done it, like Priority brought it to me Marvin had got the verses, he gave it to me the two 2pac verses wit a new beat that they had said that they got these 2 verses, so they kinda lied to me. And I rapped on it, Nuttso ended up gettin payed, I never put it out because of that reason, Priority white labeled it, and it blew up.

dubcnn.com : So you didn't record it with Pac in the studio.

No no I didn't do that. I got that verse, Pac was dead when I first heard that. They had got it, and like I said they confronted me like "Yo we got this pac verse" And I had never heard it so I thought they were tellin the truth, I was like "No one ever put this out? This was just a verse pac had layin around?" and they was like "Yeah, he did this song with Ant Banks, no one else was on it but they lied, they took Nuttso off thinkin that Nuttso would never surface. They thought Nuttso is some nobody ass rapper, but at the same time he was like a small time rapper but that was Pac's homie! Pac did that song wit him!
Damn!

D-Nice, you were Absolutly Right.

This Explains everything!

Thanks Nima!  8)

Thanks again. I do like the version from "Better Dayz"(one of the few remixes they got right with Pac's music, IMO). I like the Bad Azz version better, though. Classic Ant Banks production.

yup and its on better dayz.

on another note i remember reading an interview with bad azz where he said that he recorded two tracks with pac.

The first is obviously Krazy so im assuming the second is only move for the money.

The OG track is the one with Nutt-zo.
The one with Bad Azz is a remix done after Pac died.
Ghetto Fabulous Rmx is also a remix done after Pac died.

Is there an Acapella version of this song anywhere?
Be cool to blend Pac in with a CDQ version of Bad Azz's Ghetto Star Intrumental.
