If You Want To See Baby Boy... DONT!
« on: June 27, 2001, 07:37:18 PM »
Damn this movie is terrible... I'm not going to ruin it, but there is no plot in the film, Snoop well he better stick to rapping and there are too many shots of naked guys (Tyrese, Ving Rhames)

The only cool part was the previews

They had a preview of Bones (Snoops Movie) and during the preview they have a tight new song that Snoop did for the soundtrack... there was also a preview for the movie Training Day which also features Snoop and then there was the preview for the new Ice Cube flick

but if you wanna see Baby Boy... go see Shrek instead

bye

I Saw It, And The Plot Is Horrible..

Basically, The Story Is That This Guy Baby Boy Is Having Big Problems With His Girl, And He's Kinda A Kid, Because He Still Lives At Home.  His Mom Is Young, And Gets A New Man To Move In, So They Fight.  Baby Boy Won't Get A Job, So That Causes Problems.

Snoop's In Prison, And When He Gets Out, He Comes Home, To Hook Up With Baby Boy's Girl, Which Was His Ex.  The Snoop Scenes Are Supposed To Be Hard And Scary, But Their Actually Kinda Funny... You Get The Idea That Snoop Is Cold, But He's SOOOO Skinny That It's Hard To Take It Serious.  For Instance... In One Scene, The Girl Walks Outta Her Room, And Snoop's Asleep On The Couch.  She Goes "Rodney... Rodney!" And He Won't Wake Up, So She Kicks The Couch, And He Jumps Up In The Air, It's Just Straight Comedy.

Once Again Though, Tray Deee Looks HARD AS HELL In This Movie.  I'm Afraid Of Tray Deee, I'll Admit It, LOL. The Scenes With The Eastsidaz Rollin' Around In The Car Are All Tight, And There's A Few Good Songs On The Soundtrack.

Best Line Of The Movie:

Snoop -  "Go Ahead, Shoot Me Nigga.  Shoot Me! I Done Seen Everything In This Life But Christ Anyways...."

Nah, Not At All.  They Didn't Get Into His Character, They Didn't Say Why He Was In Jail, What His Connection Was To The Girl, What Happened To His Homies (Without Giving Anything Away, He Rolls With The Eastsidaz In The Movie, And They Just Dissapear After Hanging Around For A Few Days).

Tyrese's Character Jody (Baby Boy) Is Pretty Interesting, Although There's Really No Point...

Baby Boy's Lil' Friend Is A Great Character.  He's Always Fighting With His Girl And Her Mom, He Lives With Them.  He's A Pretty Inteligent Guy, And Throughout The Movie, He Feels Bad That He Doesn't Have A Job, And Tries To Find One.  He's Trying To Turn To God, And Wants To Get Baptised.  When Snoop Rolls On Jody, He's The One That Pulls His And Fires Back... He's A Great Character

Jody's Mom Is A Great Character... They Get Into How She Got Pregnant Early, And She Struggles To Have A Life Of Her Own, With A New Man.  She's Pretty Cool... All She Wants In Life Is To Have A Garden In Her Backyard, So She Works On That The Whole Movie.

The Best Character, I Think, Is Melvin, Who I Guess Is Ving Rhames.  He's An Old School Thug, That's Seen All, Done All.  He Did 10 Years In Jail, And Now He's Trying To Turn His Life Around.  Him And Jody Butt Heads, But This Guy's Smarter, Faster, Stronger, Bigger, He's Got EVERYTHING On Jody.  They Get In A Fight In One Scene, And Then After The Fight, He Runs Around The House Going "I TRIED To BE A Good Nigga, And Then You Got These Young Ass Bitches Startin' Fights.  A Nigga Got 2 Strikes, And They Just Tryna Get Me Back In Jail, I'm Tryin, I'm Tryin'" Or Something Like That While He's Crying About It, It's Really Pretty Emotional.  You Get The Sense That He's Done Bad In The Past (He Gets A Big Screen TV For Free In The Movie From Somebody That He Had Killed For Earlier In His Life), But He Ends Up Being The Good Guy, Jody Doubts Him The Whole Movie, Because He Finds Out Melvin Used To Beat His Past Wife, So Jody Doesn't Want Him Around His Mom (Who He's Dating).  It Ends Up Though, That He Really Has Changed, And He's Turned His Life Around, That's Why He Got So Upset When He Got In The Fight With Jody.

It's A Decent Movie, At Least Worth Seeing. Snoop's Character Isn't Developed At All, And Snoop Ain't That Great Of A Serious Actor.  I DO BELIEVE Though, That If Snoop Were Given A Comedy Role, It Would Be Hilarious.  He's Funny, And He Ain't Even Tryna Be.  The Whole Movie, The Girls Like "You Ain't Gettin This, Rodney! We Through!" And Snoop's Just Like "Girl, You Know You Love Me", And Everytime She Turns Around She's Smackin' Him, Beatin' Him Up, Kickin' Him, Etc. LOL  It's Just Funny.  He's All Lonely In Jail, And She Writes Him Letters, So He Thinks He's Homefree.  When He Calls Her, Jody's Like "You Need To Concentrate On Not Droppin' The Soap, Nigga!" And Snoop Just Goes, "Man, FUCK You" And Hangs Up The Phone.  Whenever He Sees Him After He Gets Out, Snoop's Like "You Talk Hard On The Phone Nigga, How Bout Face To Face"  He's Pretty Real, But Like I Said, He's REALLY Skinny.  I Never Knew Snoop Was That Damn Thin, He Looks Like That Boxer With The Big Afro In Ready To Rumble On Dreamcast, LOL.

I can't think of any movies with rappers in them that I didn't like.  Even Master P's movies I loved.  The illest ones were "Menace To Society" with MC Eight "Jason's Lyric" with Treach, and "Juice" with 2pac.  This one has Snoop, and is directed by John Singleton, I don't see how ya'll couldn't of liked it.

Naw.... Pootie Tang aint Chris Rock... It's this guy who used to do skits as Pootie Tang on tha Chris Rock show on HBO... it kinda spinned off and they gave him his own movie... kinda like all those SNL movies

BTW... I usually hate rapper moviez... well except Ice Cube and Tupac cuz they really had the actin talent...

Menace II Society was coo' too cuz it wasn't a rapper movie... it was just a movie that had rappers in it (MC Eiht & Too Short).... but I just hate when Rappers MAKE the movies themselves...

  Baller Blockin'
  I Got Tha Hook Up
  Hot Boyz
  Thicker Than Water
  Eastsidaz

 all bunk IMO

It's a decent movie, but the plot is terrible ... the movie really goes nowhere. They basically follow Jody (Tyrese) around with his life... he gets to selling illegal clothes (wtf!!!) and the whole idea of the movie is to show how the black man or any man in the hood reacts to their surroundings. Instead of leaving the house when they finish school, they live with their parents and cause problems... so John Singleton (the director) is trying to get this point across in the film and really it doesn't get across. He also tries to show the violence that still exists in the hood, but their is only really one scene where it is present and that is when a bunch of crips try to take Jody's bike and alizae (haha spelling??) ... Snoop's character is plain stupid. There is no point to even have him in the movie ... they speak nothing of him until one day they recieve a random phone call from him. Also Jody has these damn dreams of what will happen to him if he stays in the hood, but it's not until the end of the movie when i figure this out. So Snoop wants to go and kill Jody because well he had a baby with Yvette (jodys girl) and Snoop wants a baby with her...
Anyway if you want to see the outcome ... which really is one of the dumbest endings ever... then go to the movie, but go in the afternoon when the prices are cheaper because me and my friends just plain thought it could have been successfull, but the point doesn't cross right.

just a dumb story

yeah, I TOTALLY Agree.

My Biggest Problem With The Ending Was, WHAT HAPPENED To Tha Eastsidaz?  Not Giving Anything Away, What Would You Have Done If You Were Tray Deee, I Know What I Would Have Done.  He Wasn't Even There At The End.  It Was Just Like "Oh Well, Happily Ever After"... Get My Point? I'm Trying To Not Give Away What All Happens...

I just got home from the movie.  And it's nothing compared to Boyz In the Hood, or any of those movies we've mentioned from the 90's.  But still, I liked it, Snoop was really tight, and he even had the Eastsidaz up in there.  Snoop wasn't in their enough to make the movie really great, just enough to save it, because Tyrese lacks personality.  And his girl was wack too.  What's so cool about watching two immature acting adults (Tyrese and his girls) bitch at eachother for two hours?

The ending is the worst part...

like Boyz In Tha Hood, you know something is going to happen at the end, but unlike Boyz In Tha Hood, when it does happen, it just happens... there is nothing after that ... you are just left to think that what went down, went down and that is that. So really it disappointed... especially with John Singleton being the director ... and there was too much SEX ... i mean come on... do you all really wanna see Tyrese naked or Ving Rhames cooking breakfast in just his socks.... hmmm

thought so
