Childress leaves Hawks for Greece

THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

ATHENS, Greece -- Atlanta Hawks guard Josh Childress signed with Greek club Olympiakos on Wednesday.

Olympiakos announced the three-year deal -- worth a reported US$20 million.

"It's official. I've signed. I was in a situation that I really didn't know what my answer would be when I got to Athens," Childress said. "But it's a great city and a great team, and they did everything to make me feel at home."

Olympiakos finished runner-up in the Greek basketball league last year, behind rival Panathinaikos, but has boosted its roster with summer transfers -- including Greece star Theodoros Papaloukas, who was signed from CSKA Moscow.

This is the latest trade...Brandon Jennings is skipping college to play overseas. He woulda' been a lottery pick coming straight out of high school.

jennings is gonna be forgotten when march madness rolls around

especially when Del Curry comes out next year

MOB...David Stern is a biznitch.

there's nothing wrong with earning a college education

theoretically Stern should've made it 2 years (a la getting a 2 year degree to fall back on)

but we all know the flaw with the system:  the kids just take easy-ass classes and teachers let them pass for nothing....

that's a society problem though.

not really. its a student problem. the student makes the ultimate decision to take his education seriously or not.

The $20 mil are after taxes. The actual amount is $32.5 mil. Try to get that in the NBA when you are in that situation... no chance.
Cause I don't care where I belong no more
What we share or not I will ignore
And I won't waste my time fitting in
Cause I don't think contrast is a sin
No, it's not a sin

Haha, the quoting got messed up, but you see the point. The Warriors play in Oakland, and while it's close to San Francisco, it's not the same. Back to the original point, I'm interested to see how Childress does over there, and if more players go over there.

What's wrong with Greece? Is it considered a San Francisco type of place, in the States? LOL.
