chicano rap is too rooted in a culture that isn't driven by rythym.

im mexican too and i can see that. chicano rappers only like chicano rappers,
and their influences suck. even the best chicano rappers are barely average lyrically and flow wise.
but thats cuz their main appeal is being gangster, they don't place value at being good lyrically.
and their beat selections tend to suck. like generic ass g-funk.

only hard chicano gangster rapper to me is conejo.
and the hardest chicano rap group was psycho realm.
but even then, they were more rooted in underground hip hop
and had a more traditional hip hop feel to their shit.

All Spider has to do is ignore him...then the person dissing won't get any shine but some props in his own hood, which probably all he wanted....Slowpain, who is a big name in the Chicano rap movement, dissed Mac 10 and that's only popular in the Chicano rap game...it didn't link into mainstream beef...

As far as a Chicano rapper making it big what holds em back is 2 things

1.) Relating - if people can't relate to you, they don't feel you, therefore they don't buy your music....basically Chicano rappers mostly rap about being Chicano which if your not all down with hearing that then you're most likely not gonna be able to see reply value in their music....

2.) Marketing - most Chicano artist on the lower level sell their album flat out for like 5 g's...they receive no royalties or publishing money after that...so there is no push for them...even on the higher level of the game they only market in Latin communities for fear of not flipping a profit...therefore there is no nationwide attention to them...


Baby Bash did it right and is a rarity....as far is Omar Cruz...he wants the Latin backing but doesn't go to the car shows and other things within the Hispanic community for them to consider him one of them...or at least that's just the feedback I get from people...
