1. I think his change of style during albums is a sell out move by him, something he admitted himself. But he put out a commercialized album such as Carter III to capitalize his popularity at the moment and bring in more money, which is more power to him. I mean go listen to Carter I, then Carter II then, Carter III. You'll see metamorphism at its finest from, Birdman Jr., to Lil Wayne, to Weezy F. Baby. Carter I and Carter II are miles ahead of Carter III, but to the fan who got introduced to Wayne through his recent mixtapes and ever so anticipated cameos on every other rappers singles, that fan views Carter III as a pretty good album which it is fine by me even though i do not like it personally. Wayne is trying to do different things i.e. "take us to mars" He is trying to be the lyrical Kanye lol. But go listen to Carter II if you haven't already, i had this album on rotate for 3 years, while heavily anticipating not the same kind but even a higher level of rawness and valuable material in C3. I hope you already sense my level of disappointment. I think his peak of dope lyricism is the Carter II, because he has not taken it any higher than that, and each and everyone of his songs and cameos is getting wacker by the single

i dont think he ever "changed" his style consiously. from block is hot to lights out to 500 degreez to carter 1 to carter 2 was a steady evolution. after that his flow, delivery and lyrics got a little fucked up for various reasons...

Well, I know Weezy enrolled in college a few years or so ago, and was quoted saying that he "loved learning" in that type of environment, so perhaps taking a bunch of college courses helped expand his overall artistic persona? If I'm not mistaken, he was majoring in Psychology, or at least said that he was most interested in it.

Carter I is typical Hot Boys- gangsta shit from down south.
II and III are more lyrical and new beats material.
wayne wasnt that lyrical in his hot boys- days. even on carter I, he hadnt such lines and beats he has on II and III. Hot Boys/Before Carter II-period- he was "just another hot boy". maybe it was just a business move but...the result is: he CAN DO IT lyrically. C II and III aren´t just "i shoot you motherfucker" rhymes.thats on some other shit. thats what i mean. but why wasnt he so lyrical in his hot-boys days?
