I always wondered how much of those curves are fluke and how much is intended. can soccer players really shoot like that time and again in practice and teach others how it's done like pitchers can with curve balls or to a lesser extent billiards players can?

If you kick the ball on the valve (is that the right translation?) it can make a weird curve. It can also make a curve depending on what part of your foot you kick the ball with it. This player didn't intend to kick it like that though. The ball could have easily gone somewhere else.

Someone that plays soccer himself could probably explain it a little bit better than I can.

So they kick knowing it will bend but not sure how it will bend? Meaning that that exact same kick done ten times could very easily sail away from the net at least 5 times?

That's what I thought it was like because I figured if it could be done over and over you'd see more goals, like how you can give any top pool player an opportunity with an open table and 8 balls and you just gave away the game.

What about ball placement? Like in hockey when they have that skills competition with a marker on each corner and in the middle and the players shoot the puck at them with the best players barely missing any shots. If Soccer had an all star game with that type of shit would we see the top strikers go 6 for 6 on the targets or would it take 2 to 4 tries on each marker?

Which player are you talking about?

The one that scored the goal posted in the first post.

I hope you enjoyed your education.

I seriously hope and pray that you were kidding about him not meaning that as otherwise I would be extremely annoyed at the realisation of the amount of my life which I have just come to realise I have wasted conversating with you about a sport with which clearly you have no knowledge or experience.

Now I'm getting confused. Which is it? Can they make the shot at will or not. If I had a bell in the top left corner of a hockey net and let the top shooters in the world each take 100 wrist shots, I'd say you'd hear the bell ring over 80 times each for each player. If I do the same for a soccer net and have top strikers attempt curve shots at the at the bell (which would be larger) how many times would I hear the bell ring for every 100 shots?

Mac 10, sure that Jap he knows how to kick a ball, but let's be real here: if that Jap intentionally kicked the ball like that he (with all respect) would not have been playing for Celtic.

Can someone help me out here?

Look. He did mean it. He is capable of doing that. But it doesn't mean he is the complete player. Maybe that is why he still plays for Celtic.

The longer his brilliance goes unnoticed the happier I will be.
